Big thanks to you and your team at Gates for everything you do for this industry John!

I first met Jim in 2006 when RED made a big splash at NAB. Since that first meeting it has been, and continues to be an honor collaborating with such a dedicated, inspired team. Recognition of Gates as an Approved Third Party Accessory is humbling, and a celebration.
Thanks to our many friends and colleagues at RED for everything.

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback about the secure jumping hight with the housing. At the end, the Director decided not to do it
Thanks,
UPDATE: That frame grab was white balanced at the sand, without any lights. The resulting WB was 9106K @ -79.678 tint, showing the lateral bands.
Minuts latter I did a second white balance mesure, this time with lights on (and at a slate). The resulting WB was 8406K @ -43.267 tint, and the lateral color bands were gone!!! (see the second frame grab)
So, it looks like that a heavier white balance (that is needed without lights) is causing the issue. With lights on, there is no need for a such heavier WB and no color bands appear.
UPDATE 2: To further complicate de subject, the WB of the image in my original post (with the Magic Filter in the lens) was 6960K @ -86.569, which is the lowest Kelvin of all three (due to the filter presence) but have the highest tint shift (maybe this is what is causing the color bands)? But then why just at the edges? Could it be due to the angle of light projected by this fisheye lens and a combination of the STD OLPF characteristics?
Congrats!
Gates and its staff have always been a worthy and honorable competitor.
I just posted details of the new RT47 on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/gates.underwaterproducts/
The RT47 completes a trio of External Monitors for DEEP WEAPON and Pro Action housings. It is interchangeable / plug and play with RP5 (RED PRO 5" LCD) and RT7 (RED TOUCH 7" LCD).
Compact, low profile. A glove fit. And neutrally buoyant, so your rig stays balanced, not top heavy.
RT47 includes Gates proprietary Pass-Through cable design. No connectors between camera and LCD. Robust, reliable. The cable is also manufactured to our spec with a tough outer jacket and water block material inside. Should the worst happen -- a cut cable -- water is inhibited from flowing through the inside. Your investment protected.

I've jumped with my camera on every dive I've ever done. This is one reason a small housing is important to me.
FreshDV did this a few years ago... Had they asked, I'd have said not to. The exact same port and housing closures are in your system.

I want to pull the trigger on a 7" touch/RT7, but keep reading threads about ongoing issues with that monitor. Any insights?
I can say with personal experience that I have jumped in to the water on numerous occasions from a height of around 3 metres, holding on to a Gates HVX200 housing, courtesy of some of the more adventurous dive sites we have in Sydney and not a single drop of water inside![]()
Can anyone recommend a very good place to rent a housing here in the States that will be pretty affordable? SPL Housing said they charge $500/day, and only make housings for the 4.7" monitor (I only have a 5" and 7" Touch, so I'd have to pay even more funds for a 4.7" rental).
I have a personal project I'm filming in Chicago, and just have some scenes where the camera would be partially submerged focusing on a character floating on a raft.
I have:
RED Weapon MG
5" and 7" monitor (can use either)
Sidekick
Wooden Camera Cable-less v-mount
Dynacore and Switronix Hyperslim batteries
Thank you!
