Phiiiiilllll :)

100% correct, the lenses I highlighted in red above are 1.4

the rest are 2.8

No no, I'm asking if he would offer just those three as a set.

Need to shave off about $1000 off from mod price per lens... Or about 10k for each set to make it an option that could seriously consider. Otherwise i think i would just sell off my leicas and buy a set of original cine glass instead of going rehouse route and having no lenses while rehoused. Xenons were going as low as 3400 on black friday. Xenars were also discounted with similar ratio (about 15%). Of course on modded leicas the price here would depend on the original lens as good newer units go for lot more than old ones. Looking from the single lens prices on this list, then the original leicas should be top notch shape and newer in serials, would expect to get something like serials in 37s at least. Otherwise there is some serious air between the price of original and the mod price.

Already have the 135mm on order to flesh out my Dalsa set. But damn, these look nicer!

Avi-

Are you planning to post some footage examples with these bad boys? I'll be very interested to see what these Leica Rs look like on a Dragon.

Do all the GL Leica's cover the Dragon sensor?

Exactly...

There is a topic here in reduser about shots from Red and Leica R. They look awesome.

Problem is that if I sell my leica's away now. I get at least what I paid for them. If I mod them, the original packaging, leather poaches become worthless, while with original lens they sell much higher than lens without them and I'll never been able to return them to the original shape. So modding I'd take a hit on this immediately. While mods might be easy to sell later, they will start loosing value unless they stop making then and modded Leica R come such a rarity like it has been now. Not many modded Leica R sets out there. Anyways, If GL has this price, only few hardcore leica look fans will do it if they shoot video professionally enough (most of leica fans wouldn't be happy to destroy the original in the process) and maybe someone who looks a leica lens for some very specific use on some project. Other modders are basically "poor". Modding came possible because cine glass was so expensive and suddenly in china someone was modding for free. But when modded glass starts to cost more than cine glass the market is gone. It is much easier to rent original PL glass since don't need to explain to client what that is even if modded glass had bit nicer look. Also it looks like that if you compare modded C/Y and modded Leicas.. modding leicas cost more. Having better lens base doesn't make the modding work any more valuable. I ask "Why so expensive". You say "But it is leica" and I say "The value added is still just the mod, the value of the original lens doesn't make value of the modification any bigger" So again, I really hope GL rethinks the pricing and understand the fact that people likely to buy mod lenses, are people who can't afford real PL lenses. The price have to be much lower than real PL mount lenses no matter what the internal lens used was.

For single price lenses values here in china where they stock up
19mm T2.8: 6250 USD --- I can get 2nd gen mode in 37s good condition (the picture they had looked like much cheaper first gen lens) with 3000 + 2500 mod = 5500 ---> 750 USD AIR
35mm T1.4: 6000 USD --- I can get in 33s good condition with 2300 + 2500 mod = 4800 ---> 1200 USD AIR
50mm T1.4: 5250 USD --- I can get in 32s good condition with 1500 + 2500 mod = 4000 ---> 1250 USD AIR
80mm T1.4: 6000 USD --- I can get in 32s good condition with 2500 + 2500 mod = 5000 ---> 1000 USD AIR

Of course if the supply lenses with at least 37s series it may come to better value. Still when single rehoused prime ens price is in the category of 5000-6000 USD (or even more with some Leica R lenses as the can cost 6000-10000 USD to buy just the lens before rehouse) This is really missing the market. The people who would most likely use them. For leica rehousing the rehouse work price would need to be around 1000-1500 bucks max to make any sense.

Cinemodded lenses don't solve focusbreating issue. They come in variable speeds so the lens set is basically as slow as the slowest one in it is. Producers don't understand these, but they may just know the known brand sets usually used.it is hard to sell the when the producers wants to take something known from somewhere else, even if what you had, rehoused lenses could provide better images. It's troublesome to try to educate someone on gear just to be able to use it and for same reason it is not as good for rental use.

So rehouse is rehouse. To me they have to be priced so low that it can reach the people who don't have money for real PL lenses. So when you guys can work the rehousing fees to something like 1000 bucks let me know and I'll bring all my seven Leicas to be modded.
