  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK i just tried it with my PC and i get the exact same results.

This is the frame exported as Tiff and then cropped with Photoshop CS5, Windows 7:

Exactly the same as the Tiff exported with my Mac. Latest OSX:

Nikolai did you change something in the R3D settings? When i am layering my cropped image on top of yours the colours don't match.

I imported the R3D and then exported a Tiff snapshot at full quality. I get the same results in my mac and my PC but your image is different. It's more fuzzy and colour saturation looks different.


EDIT: Just tried exporting DPX. Same results...
 
I'm seeing the jaggies in that image on both Mac and PC RC-X 356E on three separate systems. Both in the software itself when at full resolution and full debayer. When I export to TIFF/DPX (via snapshot with full quality) the jaggies are there. When I export through the actual exporter, the jaggies are there, even when using wide gaussian filtering, they remain.

So I have to wonder how Nikolai came to his result. Because I can not get the jaggies to go away when exporting from RC-X.
 
Same results (bad ones :) at me too.
So Nikolai can You give us more information about preset you used?
 
Second one was crop from eyes CU.
 
Militos, Jeff, unfortunately my system HDD was crashed yesterday, so I cannot reconstruct exact settings of my previous export, but what I've found after reinstalling all the soft is jaggies will disappear if you set sharpness to 3, denoise to 4 or above in Redcine-X

We have acknowledged this as an issue with an Alpha build REDCINE-X. Showing us you get the same results really just ignores my post. We are looking into it. In the meantime we will suspend releasing anymore Alpha builds.

Jim, but if you suspend releasing Alpha than you will not get fast feedback from hundreds of testers?
Some bugs will go unnoticed for much longer, maybe all the way into the final release.

Maybe we should subscribe to Alpha test program and you would release Alpha to all subscribed?

Though I suspect you get only 1/3 of possible Alpha testers this way.

Did I convince you?
 
If people started to report bugs directly to RED instead of in open fora...

Sorry Jim, but i don't think that anybody ignored your post.

The testing was because of trying to figure out what Nikolai did different and his results were not the same.

Usually if you are Alpha tester you have to accept NDA (electronically by checking the “Agree” box or in writing)
I think the code of conduct though would be sufficient.
It takes only one guy (usually competition biased) to say out in the open

If I worked on something 20 hours a day it will ticked me off as well, bet on it.

Oh i see now. It's was all my fault then.
 
Noone's fault, really...

Just shows that the open-ness sometimes backfires.

We all want the openness....

RED wants the responds (they're important)

I am sure I will be hearing that Epic has problems with hair because of this thread 2 years from now...

Been there, seen it.

Still hope that RED doesn't totally put a cap on info again, only that we can find a code of behaviour that makes these interaction NOT counterproductive...

Sorry Jim, I wasn't trying to drive the issue home. I was questioning the other guy who seems to be getting different results.

I wish i could edit the 'WTF' out of my original post.

I am in stage-2 for the Epics and can't hide my excitement as the shipping time approaches. Those R3Ds were the first glimpse of what we will be getting from our cameras and thus when i saw something that wasn't supposed to be there i got a little surprised. That explains the 'WTF' i guess.

Other than that i wouldn't say i had a hot-blooded reaction.

Well... Now that the pixel-peeping drama is over...

It's nice to see Mark posted some shots of the Optimo zooms on the Epic. I'm kinda surprised that the 24-290 and 17-80 have to be as wide as he's saying to get full 5K coverage.
