  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Steven Soderbergh's " The Knick " Shot on Dragon

Just as in FYI - Cinemax is owned by HBO - this is the first TV series in history for HBO for all episodes to be finished and mastered in 4K / UHD.

It looks nice, I guess Europeans will have to count on Torrents for this one, unfortunately, as usual...

In France it will be shown on OCS the day after every US release.

some tech FYI's -

Shot on Zeiss Superspeeds and the old RED ZOOM 50-150mm.

6K HD - 5:1 compression

Shot almost entirely at ISO 1280 for texture as a creative choice

Shot almost entirely wide open at T1.3 for cinematic depth (they often ND'd on interiors).

No DIT. No monitors on set with the exception on the 7" RED on-board for operator/ACs and only TWO 17" SONY OLED's (one for each AC to pull focus via wireless video via Teradek Bolt Pro's)

This is much closer to the way I shoot, and completely sells me on the Dragon. And I think this reassures many indie filmmakers around the World. SOLD!

Would it be possible to get a link to download a 2K version of the trailer ? On Youtube it's only 720P...

Thanks,

Kristin

Amazing! Can't wait to watch it... any chance we can get the first episode or the trailed in full 4K to showcase at the RED Store NYC?!?

When and where can I watch the show in 4K? HBO go/ Netflix will likely have a 4K stream sooner than any other cable or Satellite distributor. Any dates yet. Apparently Showtime's Masters of Sex(shot stunningly on F65) is finished in 4K as well. I wonder where we are at with Sony's 4K online platform via playstation. I have given up on being able to see movies in 4K since it's nearly impossible to find which theater is playing it in 4K. The notes from post are rarely available ahead of time to even know if a particular film is being released in 4k. "Lucy" being a case in point.

We filmed/interviewed Clive Owen and the writers of "The Knick" last month. Only fitting that I shot it on Dragon.
