  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So is it true that the Gemini produces a soft picture? Do you regret not going to 8K?

Looks flat and magenta. Why ?
Greyish highlights on the skin and poor contrast/definition in their faces...

Not a scientific comparison, just tried to match up the frames without fussing over it too much. Left the vignetting in to show what the lens was doing, and used some heavy noise reduction just to show the limits of that too.

Thanks.

Sabovic,

According to the download from Camera Obscura, it was f/2.8. Your greys look better than my version also.

Les,

You did a good job of keeping the luminance and color of all the different F stops the same.

Hm, this I get in RCXP under "T 2":

which I think , along with the Leica Summicron-C 50mm being wide open, cause the tester to "Buzz" critical focus.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
Again, faces off...

Oh, I transcoded to ProRes and graded in NLE, took away some saturation, didn't push hard this time...:smile5:

Is here someone with a Gemini and a Helium who can shoot a 4k chart and show the differences, I know that the Red Scarlet Weapon(almost perfect de-bayer) is softer than the Sony Venice(perfect de-bayer), both shooting at maximum resolution.

Sabovic,

Sorry I changed my post. Yeah I also thought from looking at Les's post that the F2.8 image looked like the one I graded. I also saw that in Redcine-X as that it was T2. Also in the metadata it says T2 next to "Name" "File name" and "T2.8 R3d" next to "Reel ID Full" at the very bottom of the Metadata info.

I'm finding just exporting out of Redcine-X as a ProRes 444 file that any 3Dluts I make in 3DLut Creator look better. They have to fight a whole lot less with IPP2's control of final color in a Raw workflow. However, I still like the Davinci Color Managed workflow with "Red IPP2 Gamut Mapping" and the plain ole adding the IPP2 transform lut at the end of the node chain also.

Thanks for the info on getting the better Greys.

When we were briefed to create a fake luxury watch campaign for a Cartoon Network show, including a spoof ‘Behind The Scenes’ video of the shoot, we were instantly hooked.

We spent a sunny Autumn day in East London filming Spencer Matthews (of Made In Chelsea fame) in his role as a Ben 10 super-fan and creative visionary for the watch campaign, and we’re pretty pleased with how it turned out! Hugo even created a bespoke 'serious watch ad' soundtrack...

Keep your eyes peeled for some Brother Film Co. cameos throughout.

Filmed on RED Gemini and Freefly MōVI Pro.

Just have to say it: the Gemini sensor really makes that watch's face look green.
