Hi. I can't seem to find instructions on how to change the user buttons on the side handle. I want to customize them. I'm sure the answer is right user my nose but can't find it. Thanks!

Settings>Setup>Keys

Press the button you want to customize and presto.

Also, there's a handy search feature in case you know exactly what you want and you don't love scrolling around to hunt for it.

Use red's dsmc toolkit with the button assingn program and do it all from your laptop

Huh? How? Do we need a module for this? (I know I sound stupid right now, but I had no idea…)

You can download the dsmc toolkit from red that has a key assign program in it. In this program you can graphically see the button layout of the camera and quickly select what you want it to do. Then save in a "presets" folder on a redmag and load into camera. This way you can keep this file in your email and load it into any epic you use and it will have all buttons assigned how you like em. Very handy.

Yup DSMC toolkit includes Keymapper and Frameguides app.

Stupid question since I got really lazy with my 5" TOUCH, can you actually see the changes made in that tiny LCD screen on the SIDE HANDLE?

I can see the underline cursor move but I cant seem to get it to change visually without having to look at the TOUCH screen.

I'd like to help but I'm having difficulty understanding the question. Could you rephrase please?

Hey thanks Scott!

Looking at the tiny LCD screen on the SIDEHANDLE, I can see the underline cursor move from option to option.
When I try to make a change, I dont see anything update on it unless Im staring at the TOUCH which Im so used too.
I know dumb of me that Ive had this SIDEHANDLE for two years and now I decide to see how it works ;)

The side handle LCD should update as you modify main menu parameters; frame rate, ISO, aperture etc. Just remember that you must first select the parameter you wish to change using the enter button before you can modify it's setting. Without referring to the touchscreen it is easy to forget if you have done that. Perhaps that is what you are missing?

Thanks Scott.
To be honest I didn't spend much time trying to figure it out.
I got curious and wanted to see if I can live without the TOUCH for a month (using a DP4 temp) till my 7" shows up.
I will try again tonight.
