  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

Guilherme those pictures out right sold me on keeping my mx. So good!

Hello,

These are some shots with my old Scarlet MX. I´ve just received my Scarlet Dragon Yesterday and I still haven´t tested it, looking forward to...

I was very happy with the MX, lets see if Dragon will be even better. What do you guys think?

They all look good to me Guilherme, but these two pictures in particular would be my favourites. Beautiful stuff, thanks for sharing.

Some more Scarlet-MX 5K frame grabs.

In colour and black & white.

The black and white version reminds me of old 1930/40's films. Pity about the purple fringing in the colour version, but I like the way the rest of it looks -

Different pose and focus/emphasis -

Three degrees of brightness and contrast. The variations you can get with R3D's reminds me of the fun you can have manually developing photo's in a darkroom -

And a lighter colour version, just because it was possible -

Some projects I shot last fall. I'm still on the front part of the learning curve; being a stills guy moving into film/video/motion, but the image the DRAGON puts out helps absorb the occasional transgression.

Apologies all. Early start to the day and didn't notice that as a quote.

Guilherme, any thoughts as above to technique and style? Filtration etc.

Cheers

Hi Justin,

That frame is from a short I was trying to make but never had the time to finish. it was just me and the girl with natural light. I think I was using a 50mm contax Zeiss lens, no filters. And then I made a first grading in Red Cine and used film convert in Premiere. I really love Film convert! You can get a very good film look with just some clicks.

Cheers

Some Scarlet-MX black-&-white variations (different tones and framing).

Had some crazy lens flares in there, so over-sharpened and pushed them around a bit to mess them up even more.

One more sequence, from black-&-white to under and over-saturated.

The second last sequence of roo shots from that walk in the park.

Three degrees of contrast -

Lighter and darker, with a slightly different composition and black and white tone -

Desaturated -

A bit more red -

A bit more green -

Not sure how they appear to others here on the web, but something that interested me about these pictures was how with just a little bit of tweaking, they went from looking like frame-grabs from a motion stream to something more like low-res printed reproductions.

I thought the lighting was interesting in the colour versions as well, with sunlight shining in directly from the right, while also bouncing in from what I assume are the leaves on a tree out of shot on the left.

I think you should post some more pics of kangaroos. As many variations as possible.

Is impossible to tell whether that's an honest suggestion.

In any case, there's only one more sequence of stills for me to go through and then that's it for the kangaroo pics. Got the shots I was after, and found out/learnt a few things along the way that I'll be able to take into consideration in the future. Was both fun and difficult at times, but all in all it was a successful venture.
