  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

Great looking stuff. Great lighting & location acting looks good as well.

Thanks Jamon, to be honest this teaser does not do the whole project justice.

There is so much more but the Director likes to torture the folks that worked on it and wont let us play any of the really cool stuff online :)

If that's the case the stuff must be really good and will do pretty well if it's torture not to be able to show! This shot with Scarlet MX correct?

Its torture for the crew since we were there and had a great time shooting it :)

Yes all Scarlet MX with Rokinon Cine 24/35/50/85 and Tokina 11-16mm.

Im putting together a BTS article to support the project and help it get some traction.

Very proud of this one and would love to do it again (next episodes) ;)

Looks great. Those Rokinons are pretty good for their price. Well done.

Thanks but all kudos go to lighting.

One thing I learned about the Scarlet MX is that it needs to fed real good lighting.

Just from this project and my first full feature last summer has kept me from upgrading to EPIC/DRAGON.

If I can still make pictures with this Scarlet, I will hang on to it till it cant shoot no more :)

Eric, what are your thoughts on the Rokinon 24? I see a lot of criticism of that specific lens but can't say that I have had the same experience. How about you?

Thanks for the reminder of what S-MX can do. :-)

Love my Scarlet but we got a lot of help from a great bunch of people and that makes it all worth it :)

I had it in my head when I read that last summer. But we used that lense a lot and no issue was found.

Those lenses are so worth and would like the 14mm and 135mm soon :)

Forgotten how to post from Flickr

Just got back from vacation. Got some GREAT shots! Loving this cam! (Even though packing it, and everything needed to run, was pretty difficult, haha)

Thanks Justin and Adam, great frames ;)

Some more 5K Scarlet-X stills.

A couple of comparisons between a warmer and cooler highly saturated (video-ish?) look and a cheap low-con post effect. Just another example of how 'normal' is whatever you want it to be -

Some hard lighting, and a nice mix of colours I thought (beyond just the obvious yellow/greens), lots of dimensionality in the full res version of that second picture too-

What kind of rig do you have? I thought it doesnt take much to get the scarlet running.

It was pretty minimal. The Scarlet Case, the monitor (Small HD AC7), my lens case, Quickplate Module box, RED Sidewinder, top handle, two RED Brick Batteries, the RED charger, RED Mag reader, a hard drive, and the dock to offload footage.

But all had to fit in the carry on, along with my normal vacation clothes!

EDIT: That's right, the Scarlet Case, I got away with being a "personal item" and had it under the seat, so it wasn't in the bag. I bummed a laptop from my Dad while down there.

Some more pictures captured during a short walk in the park.

Scarlet-X 5K.

Cuteness, contrast, colours -

Another challenging shot that I think benefits from having been captured RAW with the MX sensor -

I like the way the 'horizon'-line of sharpness runs through the frame and incorporates the rabbit here. The translucent ears are a bonus too -

Went to the park mostly to get pictures of the roos, which I don't usually see a lot of. Got more than I bargained for in terms of the amount of footage I left myself to sort through.

Thanks Dean.

Really liked this 'Absolution' behind-the-scenes blog posting of yours btw, nice write-up and pictures - http://www.alucinorproductions.com/absolution-blog-4.html

I remember when you first posted some frames from that short here during production, so it was interesting to see where the final look of the film ended up. Looks really good imo.

And congrats on just getting the whole thing done and out there at all.

It's been a week since anyone posted pictures, so here are some frames to keep things ticking over.

Some non-conventional action shots. I like the way the framing, lighting and focus puts the emphasis just as much on the colour and abstract shapes as it does on the actual 'action' -

Don't have to see it in great detail to get a sense of the power and energy required to leap like that -

Again, placing the focus on the branch shows a nice amount of detail, while leaving the 'proper' point of focus rendered in shapes and colours that wouldn't otherwise be so noticeable -

Hello,

These are some shots with my old Scarlet MX. I´ve just received my Scarlet Dragon Yesterday and I still haven´t tested it, looking forward to...

I was very happy with the MX, lets see if Dragon will be even better. What do you guys think?
