This forum-section has way too much threads that go into the direction "i've bought a scarlet but i want more, for free, right now". You know what i mean. ;) But Scarlet-X is a phantastic camera and it's time to showcase that a bit more often. So, i've taken Gunleik's great thread as inspiration and created this one. But unlike Gunleik's thread this is meant for everyone.Let's use it all together to post various still frames, links to your work and whatnot. Bring on the Scarlet eye-candy!

I'll start with a few frames from my very first, a bit more serious, test-shoot. Please be gentle, they're not the best, i was quite new to the whole thing. And on top of that, i had just one lens and the basic-kit (2 REDVOLTs, 1 64GB Mag), not even a tripod. ;) I did not expect to get any good footage, but afterwards i was a bit surprised here and there. This day somehow assured me, that this is what i want to do and that my move to get a professional camera and sacrificing a lot for it was right

Great thread. Good to balance it all a bit, so much complains about scarlet footage...

So my contribution to this is a little guessing game.

What shots where shot on epic and which shots where shot on Scarlet. Both cameras where using Anamorphic Hawk-C, Epic in 5k ANA and scarlet in Full 4K... A hint is that there is about 50/50 from each camera...

To me epic and scarlet can be intercut no problem and colors are all identical. Offcourse there is a slight difference in sensor size but that is really not much so for normal frame rates and bellow scarlet kicks ass..

I really like this idea. Ill try and get some stills up today. We have been comparing 3k/4k to 6k on our 4k display and let me say... you shoot the scarlet right and you have nothing to worry about. not saying that the Dragon isn't a step up, but after lots of testing I'm confident to say Scarlet is good enough... for movies for photos, for everything other than slo mo... and well it can hold its own in that regard if your not in need of ridicuslomo.

I got a little carried away but these are a few of the first I came across. Ill dig for more

Most are just clips, but I have been busy!

Cool. Thanks! Great stuff guys. This is already going better than expected. Keep it coming. :)

Ii'm glad you reconsidered Ben. Great shots!

@Ryan, thats exactly what i think. Scarlet is a bit underestimated by many, just because there is EPIC.

@paulherrin, thanks man. This day was a eyeopener for me. I mean shooting film is a dream i have forever, maybe it was that experience i had when i watched E.T. in cinema that hooked me up (this was something extremely exciting for a kid in east-germany). But actually having shot something with a camera like scarlet, on a set, with light and someone who can model, mind-blowing...

It was a lucky opportunity and i was just the guy who was testing a camera in the background, well the best camera on set ;), and constantly fighting the outrunning power of my two redvolts. Haha.

I still have a lot to learn and work to do and lots of stuff to buy, before i feel i'm good enough to take money out of this passion, but i know its the one thing i want to do. ;) This community here already helped me a lot, many guys are a inspiration, lots of knowledge for free. REDUSER.net really made me dream big again and RED gave me, with Scarlet, the chance to come a bit closer to fulfill my dream.

And we even had a little bit of hollywood there!
This girl (Sarah Hay) had a role in Black Swan and now she got a lead-role in a new drama series on Starz called "Flesh and Bones".

Here's a pretty little music video that I shot with some very close friends over a weekend. Three man crew, scarlet with optimo 16-42 and no lights.

Great thread, Maik! And beautiful images everyone! So good to see this. Thank you all!
