  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

ATM i particularily enjoy seeing all the saturated shots, as that has interested me a bit lately.
I have de-sat'ed my fair share of Epic footy, but tried going a bit the other direction lately, and to my eyes, it works just fine.

Cool to see these examples.

Great work everyone.

From a short film I directed in 2012 "Shame of Blood."

Here is a mish mosh of Scarlet footage (mostly)

All great stuff. I'll have to dig though some stuff and post some grabs. The Scarlet really is a much better camera than people give it credit for. If they Epic was not around there would be a lot less complaining about what it can't do.

Here are a few straight out of the camera. Ill try to get the finished photos up soon.

These look amazing Deon, care to share some of your process for achieving the look?

Hey :) thank you.

These were all graded in Speedgrade - I used a REALA 500D lut as a base and then just did corrections and pushed the images towards whatever "look" I was going for.
I often use an output lut to settle in all my adjustments.

Ryan I love those shots. Instantly you know that not only are they going to absolutely sing once you're done playing with them, but that there's a multitude of ways you could push or pull that both at the subtle and the extreme end of the spectrum. In fact they'd be ripe for a 'grade my r3d' thread :)

Yeah, I think those look great Ryan. Would love to play with a .r3d still or two. What lenses/filtration?

Thanks Deon, the really capture the vibe.

Dont normally do this .....

But here's some stuff we are doing currently with Scarlet.

All these images are awaiting pro-grading and are not final, so have been graded by some lame arse with a colourists skills of a brick ...namely me ; )

P.S. these are in Jpeg lower quality format.

P.S.S ....

@ William and Deon , Great images, crisp, strong geometry, go Scarlet.

On reflection the above look soft may have to re-upload @ a higher rez.
