Kinda curious as to what the rental houses will charge for a Scarlet-X and R1?

Any leads or ideas

Day Rate and Weekly Rate?

the duration of the rental is a factor in the price. different houses charge different amounts, and there is quite a lot of variety in packages particularly with glass. the longer the rental is, the cheaper the per day amount is. check the production houses near you to find out your local prices. if the house is no where near you, knowing their rates isn't particularly useful

They'll probably be more expensive to hire that you'd expect. In Australia, my experience has been that rental houses have to protect their investment in more expensive cameras like Arri Alexias. Therefore they hire cameras like Epic kits at higher rates so the more expensive, and less able cameras, don't gather dust. I would imagine we might see this sort of thing with Scarlet.

Yes that has been my experience too. Red in particular seems to go for a much higher percentage of purchase price than other cameras in Australia. Example from a recent quote: Redone MX body $1000 per day Sony F3 body $400. Value 25 000 vs 16 000. 4% vs 2.5%.

I'd say...

$595 Day
$1650 Week
$3995 Month

should be fine with x6 RedVolts total and x2 64GB SSD total.

When I worked with an Epic-M we did just fine with 8 RedVolts and 2 Chargers. They say Scarlet-X will have a better battery expectancy so I figured six would do, but we won't really know until we get out there.

Best thread i've seen on here yet! You know why... it talks about how I'm going to make my money back from the $27,000 I just spent!!!

oh and I was thinking in the $750 range with lenses... However that will be including external 17" monitor, Sound Devices Pix 240, and a "full" camera package which would include 4 RedVolts (to start off with) A couple anton bauer batts, 4- 64 gig SSDs and probably 6-7 fast Canon L Series Lenses.

I'd say $750 if not more.

Solid kit mate, seems like a killer production package.

Mainly depends where you're located and how available RED cameras will be available in your area. I'd imagine places outside NYC/LA prices will be higher.

After working so hard for my camera it'd be hard to let it go for under $500 a day.

The Scarlet-X will replace the R1 but up to what extent?

Our rental rates for the scarlet-x package are approximately $390/day and $1400/week in switzerland.

Way too cheap, that's what a hvx used to rent for. However you do have to add lenses. I'd say a scarlet would be around 600/day no media

I remember a guy here in my home town renting his hvx cameras for around the same price if not a little more.

Issue is that way more people will buy the scarlet than ever did the R1 or EPIC.

Market here already got pretty saturated with Ms since they went on general release and a number of them have drastically undercut the existing rental market by offering underequipped kits. They now rent for less than a production MX kit did 6 months ago.

In the end rates will come down to people, both in terms of technical crew, and trustworthy rental houses. Both of whom should be able to charge more than the cowboys.

My full kit with lenses is going out for $700 to $800 a day. already have 2 gigs in Jan booked =)

well..... i wouldnt start booking gigs until the camera is in my hands, and tested.

just saying....

Im gonna put mine out for $850
