  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Social Network...

What's a tantamount ... I thought it was suppose to be PL?

Okay. That was a joke and a waste of space...

But on a slight side note: RED has officially made it into the Criterion Collection via Soderberg. Che is being released on Blu-Ray in a few months from that prestigious label in the States. Fincher missed out...

Some will take longer than others,...but all will become believers in RED.

I'm still very surprised that Robert Rodriguez has stayed so silent on Red, why isnt he in this? It seems straight up his alley.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about it some time ago - since he's one of the biggest advocate of digital lensing, it is quiet strange he hasn't even said anything about Red...does he have a special agreement with Sony and Panavision?

He did mention in the commentary on Once upon a time in mexico that Sony were thrilled that he was using their own product on one of their films as they were trying to get digital cinema going.. But that was way before RED. Rodriguez does what rodriguez does best.. Saves money. So whatever's cheaper...

I have no doubt that with M-X's new filmy blacks and lowlight sensitivity that everything is about to change.

Jim ...

Congrats on the film - really fantastic news.

Oh yeah ... almost forgot ... have I mentioned how ANXIOUS and EXCITED I am to shoot and test the new sensor ... and the EVF bomb ... and the ...

Well, if it's good enough for Fincher, I guess it'll be good enough for me...:tongue_smilie:

So, I just need to secure myself a best picture nomination on top of a long and impressive resume, and I can have prototypes too? Child's play!

Seriously though...I want the new sensor five minutes ago. And the Bomb EVF!

Great to hear. A scene of Social Network is being shot at my school this weekend, and as part of the agreement David Fincher is participating in a Q&A with all the students. I was going to ask him this very question, but I guess now I don't have to!

If anyone has any questions they would like me to ask him regarding the Mysterium-X sensor, or just about shooting a large-scale feature with the RED in general, let me know.

That's awesome, Michael. David Fincher is my favourite director of all time, I would love to have the opportunity for to participate in a Q&A. </fanboy>

Jim, it must be a great feeling to get this kind of feedback on your tech.

All I can say is that it looks bloody brilliant. Absolutely amazing guys.
That is all.

Who's blowing out the Sony 4k's @ 30k? I've had a few quotes sent my way up here in Edmonton and have yet to see anything close to 30k USD, not that I'm a Sony guy at all but @ that price who can argue. Have you had a chance to play with JVC's 4k yet?

I understand that people that have no trade in policy, like Sanjin, are happy to go with Misterium-X, but why would some one invest in a sensor when they know the next generation RED camera isn't "very far"?

What decision did you made folks?

Patrick

The question arising right now which lenses are they going to use?

According to the fact that cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth shot Fight Club (1999) for David Fincher using Academy Awards Winning Panavision Primo L Lenses

and also one rumor wrote here that David Fincher has got the two of Steven Soderbergh's RED1 "Lennon" and "McCartney" that were "Panavised" before, now upgraded with M-X sensor

and all that lead us in the conclusion to "speculate" that a lens choice for "The Social Network" is Panavision Primo Prime® Lenses.

Panavision has added five new

Why not Red Pro Primes that have the 5k compliant (plenty for 4.5k) image circles? Regardless, a huge compliment considering Fincher has the choice of shooting on anything.. film, genesis, viper, f23...etc. Congrats Jim!
