  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W Queue

August the 1st as my original pro forma invoice got lost in june :/

I get that i've got a wait but i'm more interested if anyone sold there camera before they actually received the scarlet W with the change of ownership
 
Based on what I just saw on Facebook it appears Maxx Digital has a few Scarlet-Ws in stock.
 
It's a funny setup but CVP in the UK do not get any notice of orders from Red being fulfilled except when they actually turn up at their office with no fanfare so no ETA or notice other than to tell you to pay the balance and pick it up.
 
i got told by red europe yesterday that i can not sell + do the change of owner ship on my scarlet D and keep my place in the que or be eligible for the scarlet owners package upgrade. They are looking into it today to see if anything can be done
 
really, i didn't really think about that way as

i've had scarlet mx then upgrade to D since 2011, IF i am going to sell it anyway and have paid for the upgrade to W why should i forfeit may place

what difference does it make if i'm going to sell the camera anyway and i've paid for it.


I think i've been pretty loyal and still have been by choosing and wanting to stay with RED

out of interest are you upgrading from a scarlet D or is this a new buy for you?
 
Yeah sorry I didn't mean to sound so aggressive. Pre coffee posting not to be recommended....

Funnily enough I had a Scarlet-MX from 2012 and was going to upgrade to Dragon but there was an issue with the process meaning I'd get stung for VAT twice on it and it ended up that I'd get far less for the camera as a trade in than I could selling it privately, so I did that a bought an FS7 which I have used for the last 2 years and spent the change on various other bits of gear. The camera paid for itself in 3 months compared to over 2 years for the Scarlet-X, which taught me about positioning and having the right tools for the right job and market.

But Scarlet-W is the right camera with the right sensor at the right price point for the stuff I'm doing and want to do now. V excited but want to be out using it today. Have all the extras sitting here ready to go except for the OMOD XLR which should be coming this month.

the buyer of my camera is happy to to do the ownership post delivery of my W but I would like the do to the sale clean so they can do all the checks with red and get the 90 day warranty

I am worried about being camera less but RED are knocking out the W's a bit quicker ( i hope:)

I just thought other people had done the same after paying the deposit. A lot of people like me would have done that to finance the upgrade, well thats what i thought
 
Just received SW #002653 from Drone Nerds. I had ordered through RED on October 28th, 2016, and put in a secondary order with Drone Nerds on January 29th. I got allocated Feb 22nd with Drone Nerds, and it delivered today. I just cancelled my original RED order.

If you're desperate or impatient (like I), start calling some dealers. As of this afternoon Drone Nerds had a couple left I believe. I've seen a few floating around this week.

Agreed, I just managed to get a Scarlet-W kit from maxx digital after hearing they had some in stock. I had placed an order directly through Red back in December and just cancelled that. They're out there in the wild with dealers right now if you look around.

Thanks for posting this, I called them yesterday after seeing your post and just picked up the last Scarlet-W kit they had in stock. Sounds like they're expecting more soon too.
 
I just found out that my local camera shop have a Scarlet W in store. I allready have a Scarlet Dragon and wonder what is the main difference between the two?
I need to find good arguments for getting a new camera...

Higher frame rates at 5k and 4k, less noise, smaller/lighter brain, and built in scratch audio mics are some of the big selling points for me. The DSMC2 system is a big improvement overall, there's a good sticky post in the Recon forum about this.
