  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Hi Harcharan,

Beyond the batteries (I'm getting Paglinks) I have also ordered:

- The G-Tech Mini Mag reader http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1192969-REG/g_technology_0g04559_ev_series_reader_red.html
- A 256GB Mini Mag (I found a used one on ebay, they seem to come up once in a while)

I'm assuming the RED bolt kit would be useful too but not sure if this is compatible with the DSCM2 bodies? http://www.red.com/store/products/dsmc-bolt-kit

That's all so far, but i'm new to RED (or will be once I receive my Scarlet-W) so there are probably other useful items which I have omitted. Hope that helps a little.

Are you sure it is 256GB? Are you sure it is a Mini-Mag and not a 1.8"? There are two types of mags, 1.8" and Mini. I don't think Mini-Mags were ever available in the 256GB capacity.
 
What do you think a good price is for a 240 GB used? I need to get a second mini-mag at minimum for my Scarlet-W on order. I might go with a second 120 GB instead - trying to decide if I should order this new, or wait and see if a few used ones pop up? Or possibly new ones from kits that people will be selling? Thanks.

Seems like $1300 is around the going price for them here.

i should be on the first allocations for raven and will be selling my 120

I was lucky enough to get mine for $950. I've also seen a few 512GB ones going for around $1,700.
 
They gave me a call and said that mine will arrive the first week of April (scarlet-w base i/o package). I've placed my order and the deposit in mid January.
Man, this waiting is killing me :D

Based on your deposit date, that's extremely impressive! Way to go RED team! This is big news.
 
Just received our batteries for the Scarlet W!

Hope these batteries works well with Red and that it will last at least an hour + for the slims and 2+ hours for the 98W hypercores. They are almost the same weight shockingly.. (150g difference)

Still waiting patiently for the Scarlet W to be allocated without a doubt :nopity:

Looks great, I was hoping for Switronix Hypercore to be my set up as well. The charger is so expensive for me right now though. *sigh

Hate to burst your bubble, but you'll get just over an hour for the 75watt and about an hour and a half for the 98 watt. The Scarlet and Epic both used roughly 1 watt a minute and the Weapon seems to be no different. Therefore, I would assume that the Scarlet-W would be the same. It would have been great if they had lowered power consumption significantly, but the camera is doing a ton for not much power already. There was a huge consumption jump (lower) from the Red One to the Epic, but I am not sure we are going to see much change in the future until there is a big jump in technology.
