  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Hate to burst your bubble, but you'll get just over an hour for the 75watt and about an hour and a half for the 98 watt. The Scarlet and Epic both used roughly 1 watt a minute and the Weapon seems to be no different. Therefore, I would assume that the Scarlet-W would be the same. It would have been great if they had lowered power consumption significantly, but the camera is doing a ton for not much power already. There was a huge consumption jump (lower) from the Red One to the Epic, but I am not sure we are going to see much change in the future until there is a big jump in technology.

Hey Matthew! Thanks for the heads up! As long I know how much time these batteries would give, I'll be in a better position to gauge for sure! Appreciate the tip :)

Looks great, I was hoping for Switronix Hypercore to be my set up as well. The charger is so expensive for me right now though. *sigh

Its my first time purchasing v mounts and these set up made the most sense for what we do.. You are right they are really expensive and I was really reluctant to purchase it to be honest. Had to sell off a couple of random stuff to partially fund these

I switched to a Scarlet W package earlier this month from Raven, my timestamp is Sept 25 12:24 am. So only a few hours after it became available and have not been allocated yet.

Cheers

Wow, there must be a big blast coming then if all pre-Scarlet-W announcement timestamps are meant to be fulfilled this month. Fingers crossed! My body is ready for my body to be ready.

I really hope this is the case, it's been pretty quiet on the the allocation front which has me skeptical. I haven't felt this impatient about anything since my high school days haha.

They gave me a call and said that mine will arrive the first week of April (scarlet-w base i/o package). I've placed my order and the deposit in mid January.
Man, this waiting is killing me :D
Not to start anything negative here but this doesn't make any sense. That's not usually how things work, they don't really just call and tell you that your camera package will arrive in a couple of weeks. They send you an allocation email right before it ships. There are a quite a few people that are at the beginning of the que that haven't been allocated yet. From the sound of it, mid January, it's possible to get allocated the beginning of April, but with the rate of things it seems more like later in April/May. Please clarify who you spoke to and what you mean. Did they give you a rough estimate is my guess? I ordered late January so I wouldn't be too mad if you got yours early April that means I might not be too far behind.

P.s. I don't mean to come off angry or negative in any way. Just confused, because I've never heard of this on a new camera or upgrade pre order like this.

no your right, no one at red would just give you a call with a delivery estimate like that, unless it's like their roommate that works at RED :)

Sorry, i forget to mention: my local dealer (i'm based in italy) gave me a call saying that. I didn't bought it from red , but as i said, from my local official Red dealer.

Hi Jochen, did you get Brain only? Or the Kit?

What was your timestamp?

Congrats! Sweet looking shot. I'm loving the two tone look.

Hey Gene and all others, thank you, the brain looks so good.
I ordered the raven (only the body) in the first few hours and then I switched to Scarlet-W.
I hope my accessories (i/o, lemo adaptor-a and handle) coming soon.

Is the PAG Link 96 battery the best weight / wh out there?

I wanted a light battery and I ended up with some Bebob V150s @ 2 lbs, they were the lightest 150wh I could find and came highly recommend by some European Redusers. But they are "Dumb," so they only read voltage which is a compatability issue right now the the V-Lock module. Brent says it should be fixed soon though, I hope. They are a reasonable price, but ordering international kind of sucks.

PAGs are 1.6 lbs, but that's for 96wh which would require quite a bit more battery swapping that a 150wh. Yes, you can stack two PAGs together, but then it's 3.2 lbs which becomes a very heavy battery. I personally would probably never stack the batteries as I shoot with a jib and handheld a lot, so weight matters quite a bit.

Lightness is quite important to me, but having the switch batteries every 80 to 85 minutes or so can get old quick, so as a middle ground, I opted for the lightest 150wh I could find. I will add, Bebobs are really well made. Them company says they are crack-proof, but I'm not going to try.
