  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet update in mid-May

Red one users are expected to shift to the epic and i dont think they are switching to the scarlet...so i dont think there will be any preference for red one owners...

I won't be so sure. Rental houses will likely pick up a bunch of Scarlets. No doubt the demand will be far greater than Red Ones - and will shift out all the cameras in the HVX, EX1 class that have been so popular. In fact, even DSLRs are doing rounds in rental houses nowadays.

Also, if they are going for the Epic - there's a high chance they wouldn't resist a Scarlet as a B-camera. I mean, it only costs a fraction of what they would have paid for the RED One, the Epic and all the accessories. And the fact that you can share modules between them.

I won't complain if there's preference for the RED One owners, but maybe a limit would be nice. Needless to say, Scarlet's userbase would be FAR wider than One or Epic, and it would be safe to guess that it will be mass-produced with quantities several times that of One or Epic, so we shouldn't be worried about this preference list. I don't see a waiting period of more than a month, if there is priority for current owners. Unless of course there's a Tattoo style program, or a Scarlet-X, which could take longer. I doubt it will be so - RED will make sure it is a mass-producable product. It is a completely different beast from the Epic.

I think most of us are just hoping for a "progress report" of some sort in this time frame.
 
Ya Ya Ya, I know, but for some reason I feel Jim would love to do it just to see the look on some faces (aint they capable of pulling a surprise):rolleyes:

Yes, it would be great to have Jim around during the announcements. However, considering Jarred did the Nov. 30th announcements and posted an update in here a couple of days back, I think we will get the update before Jim is back if the information is ready.
 
u are so right. naive speculation. guys lets forget about scarlet for somedays.

Yes, but it is also the company of Jarred and Ted among many many others (Graeme, Jon, Stuart and so on). Do not forget.

Once I consider myself a friend of the company, you're also forgetting me, right? :-)

I'm only 1 person, but I have little interest in a 2/3" Scarlet. I would however, be very interested in a S35 Scarlet with just a bit of over-cranking. That's the sweet spot for me.

Jim has said in the past that RED One owners will "have priority". What that means exactly is unknown. The Scarlet release will come *AFTER* Epic. Like a month or two behind... Originally the 2/3" Scarlet was to come after the S35 Scarlet. Not sure if that's still the case or how it will all play out. Hopefully we'll have more Scarlet news soon.

I thought I read the 2/3 Fixed and Cinema were coming quite a bit before the S35.
 
Last official word was "...the 2/3" Fixed/Cinema Scarlets should be here 2 months after EPIC-X...".

We have translated it to be around August/Sept because the EPIC-X Stage 2 is to be here in June/July if no more "major drama" is upon the development...

Is Tattoo even out yet? June is 2 weeks away. Tattoo will take at least 2 months, I think somewhat more.

I don't see any scarlet to ship untill Epic stage 4 is also shipping. I'd be angry is I were an R1 user waiting for stage 3 and seeing Scarlets shipping.

Jim said Tattoo would be out this month unless his health has put a damper on it . I dont see that being the case also i saw a tweet from Offhollywood hinting towards having an Epic.

If Jim and Jarred have been shooting with Epic since january I dont think they will take more than a month on tattoo especially if people like Offhollywood gets it because they will be shooting with it every chance they get.
