  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet & Samyang Low-Light test...

That sucks man! Make the most if it, drop it again, crack the front element and shoot some "organic" looking stuff that everyone will be amazed by..... "how did you get the beautiful halation?" hehe

Yeah, I asked them on FB and they said I could but it might be less to just buy a new one.

They're only $499...I may need to bite the bullet. Just sucks when I want things like the Side Handle and whatnot.
 
I just got my 16mm Samyang cine in the mail and was pleasantly surprised that there isn't any serious vignetting at 4KHD and that it is most definitely usable at 5K on the MX sensor as long as you stay under a t8. For a lens designed to cover APS-C, this is gravy. I'm digging the octagonal bokeh and close focus (0.7') as well.









These grabs were shot in 5K (with the exception of the last one shot at 4KHD) and output from Resolve as 4KHD TIFs. I threw on a VisionColor OSIRIS LUT for kicks as well.

Doug how do they deal with 3K, 2K and 1K frames?

Looking to replace my Tokina 11-16mm.

I was thinking the look or how creamy it gets, I have a 24mm and find the cropped sensor to look smooth (if that's even a term).
 
The Samyang/Rokinons really are great lenses for the price.

Nice job on those lighting setups with the scarlet. I'm amazing just the match can produce so much light. Nothing was added here? No quick blink of light at the critical lighting point or anything added?

with these lens, do you read the informations of the data lens on the red sreen ? Like red lens (distance for focus).

No, rokinons don't communicate with the camera.

Hey Will, thanks man! I can assure you that there's no trickery going on here. It's just as the lighting diagram suggests :)
