  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Oh, my... I leave for a week and all hell breaks loose. Apparently Jarred has gone rogue.

I told him when I left that he was in charge. Look what happens...

I think he is jealous about the island vacation and is taking it out on you. I can hear the conversation now "i said lets sell em for eleven one, not seven one", " I clearly thought it was seven one, oops"

Well Jim I like the deal even if i can't get one @ this price , but if this happens with 1 week off. Would 3 weeks off have BT Epics...;)

I'm a little pissed over this deal. I mean we purchased this camera months ago and this happens. I would hate to be the ones that are trying to sell their Scarlet(s) now.

I hope there is some deals in the works with other RED accessories for us loyal & committed RED owners that waited many many months to purchase this great camera.

Bummer for us!!!

I purchase cameras and equipment all the time - prices change, specs change, special circumstances lead to one time deals. As has been said many times these cameras could have just gone back into inventory without anyone knowing; but instead they passed on the deal.

A week from now when this is forgotten the board will still have people trying to sell their Scarlets for 99% of what they paid. I don't feel like RED owes us anything - I bought my first Scarlet on announcement day, the second this week and I've made a shitload of money in between.

Thanks RED for giving me the tools to be a great working cameraman.

This isn't really anything new. RED has been selling Battle Tested Rockets and Lenses all along. If you want to wait a couple of years, you may even be able to buy a Battle Tested Epic... (but not mine!)

Can you give me an example of other companies like Canon, Arri, Sony, etc of doing this type of marketing/hype/sale. Yes, they could come back and do that but that would be fraud or fraudulent practices. I don't believe RED would stoup so low. But 4K of the camera is quite a drastic price reduction for only 90 secs of use.

How do you know how many they are going to sell? Maybe they are selling their overstock of Scarlets. Yes, they don't own us anything but would be nice for loyal customers. Why didn't this production use Epic cameras - they are better. Everybody knows that.

Yes, I forgot about that. Thanks for informing me. I wonder when will the Battle tested REDmags, RED bricks, RED LCD monitors, REDvolts, etc.
 
did not get any email from red europe. ordered two days ago... i know they are busy, hopefully they did not forget me! ;-)

It pains me to answer this 'cause I feel like you are just a bitter troll -

Yes I can give you several examples of this - and these are cameras sitting in my equipment room. These were purchased by productions for special shots, and then quietly sold by the manufacturer to me because I was standing in the right place at the right time. This was pre internet so it was done much more quietly…

I'm not but am I a new user so others will dismay my comments here. Love it, I say my opinion/frustration and you go & say I'm a troll. Whatever dude. I'm a unhappy customer. Sorry.

Stating the facts, Glen. Then you say "quietly sold" this isn't a quiet sale or a backdoor deal, its open for everyone to see and get. It wasn't sent to individual customers like yourself from your previous purchases/deals like you say above.

Great for RED. I'm done my rant. End of discussion

I get your frustration. I don't know how many times I've bought something on Newegg and see it reduced in price sometimes only a few days later. Felt like venting myself a few times but no place to do it. But then I imagined what goes on at Newegg, the company and I realize they are just too big to revamp their pricing structure just to gouge me so I put it down to bad timing on MY part... not Newegg's. Once you come to terms with the fact that fairness is a variable, life has a lot fewer in-body stress activated cortisol releases, which is a good thing for heart health.

Yes, this isn't the place or time. Just my opinion.

For the record, I'm not comparing NewEgg to RED. This is the film industry. a very small market.

Congrats Michael. You must win the prize for being one of the first people in Canada to get a Scarlet, then selling it for an Epic, and then getting a Scarlet again... All within the same year!

This is your second Scarlet? or did you sell the first one? I've been meaning to give you a call about remote location shooting.
