Scarlet at CES

RE: Scarlet at CES

Excellent pics! I think this must be the first camera ever to have its own paparazzi!

Sorry, but that would have to be the RED One, which had Paparazzi aplenty.

Then there was EPIC, and the cameras were flashing.

That's why its called RED... if you work there all you can see are the red afterimages from paparazzi flashes

Very cool. Since Red said they wouldn't do NAB, I was surprised by this.

As much as I like what's inside... I find it so ugly, sorry.

Sure, it looks like a black box with a lens.. but that comes in handy when I'm importing it and declare that its not a camera but rather a fashionable paperweight, or a door stop - or even a fancy new external hard-drive....

nice ideas :hurray: i personally don't care the "beauty" of the case, i care the quality it produces .... :hurray:

Of course quality of footage is more important, but if you can have both, why not have both? And there is something to be said about form factor and machine design.

I love the look. People in the know will see it and instantly know what it is. Those who don't will figure that it is just a regular cheap camcorder, especially if you shoot without a matte box and the additional hardware. This will be a great cam for getting amazing footage without drawing a lot of attention to yourself.

I disagree.

Those who don't will wonder what it's going to feel like to be disintegrated at the atomic level when you pull the trigger.

Which is, of course, awesome.

Well ergonomically speaking: needs a handle, it looks like an industrial camera or something that comes from a future imagined in the 50's.

Looking at this picture I imagine that even the fixed version will need some accessories to shoot right out of the box, couse even in the renders does not have anywhere to hold on to it.

Hmmm, looks a bit like a weapon. Hope that dosen't makes any problems at an airport. I mean i like the look, but i'm thinking about traveling with the scarlet-fixed-lens ...
