SCARLET ANNOUNCEMENT - Feedback

Any way to get one that looks like this standard? The "Drybrush" look to it is awesome. Adds another level of cool-factor (pun intended) to this camera.

I can lightly sand-blast one for you... ;)

Funny.. I said exactly the same thing :)

Sick. I'll keep this in mind. Thanks.

While I really could do it, I don't think I'd want to. Kinda messes up the finish and would most certainly void your warranty as all the outside pieces would have to be removed. While we're talking about side panels and such, the side panels on the Scarlet look different than EPIC. Are they still aluminum?

We shoot sports almost exclusively and without high fps the Scarlet is pretty much useless for us.

Yeah, I shoot sports almost exclusively as well, so I'm in a similar boat. For now, I think I'm going to save my pennies for an Epic. Right tool for the right job, right?

That being said, the specs/price on the Scarlet-X is making my brain melt. I can't believe what the RED crew is doing up in there. Mindboggling. I remember when the DVX-100 blew my world open. And now, what, 5 years later, we're at this? I could have never imagined.

And that being said, if that Scarlet 8x is lurking anywhere around, my wallet's already open. : )

Love what RED did with Scarlet-X. But I still think the fixed-lens model had a lot of potential utility for ENG/EFP applications.

Jarred, am I correct in reading that the Scarlet is grey? If so, will their be accessories that come in that same finish as opposed to the black of the Epic?

Thanks!

I'd rephrase the question this way though — is there a chance that final production Scarlets will return to black on black?

Although at this price/performance ratio it doesn't really matter what color the camera is, it may even be yellow with green and purple detailing for Christ's sake, it'll still be one of the greatest cameras out there for many years to come (the second one is of course EPIC).

Thank you for your order. An email confirmation will be sent to you shortly. Thank you for shopping with RED.

I am Done ... deposited

Thanks Jim thanks red team ......

Following Red's cameras since the days of the "splash screen" until now, i would say there are thousands of producers in the Scarlet Fixed market. Surprise them Jim!

Certainly, I'd prefer the black finish as well!

Yes, but warranties end eventually, so once it's up I don't see any problem getting something like this done.. Even so, I love personalizing things. These cameras are more expensive than anything I've customized before, but I'd still love for my Reds to have a custom look. Just something that's loose in my brain I guess.

Well, I did it. Scarlet X w/ Canon mount Kit. All smiles tonight in Atlanta. I hope I get it before Xmas, lots to shoot.
Great job Red team!! This going to change the way I do things.

Hi Jim/Red Team

Just got up half hour back, waited for the announcement late last night then had to sleep.
Tried logging in to reduser.net could not, used a work around expected this.
Read the Scarlet announcement, five mins later placed the order.
Epic-X brother and Scarlet sister was expecting something similar but never could be sure.
Just checked the canon C300 release announcement big show and still 1080.
Nothing much has changed.

You can produce a good film even with a US$300 camera, case in point Gopro, have 4 of these, you can put these
in places where you would not dare with a larger cameras. They are a great tool for wildlife work and produce
decent 1080.

Keep making cameras that will last at least 5 years before they get outdated, my REDONE is 3 years old and still
the best camera for the price/performance at 4K. Offcourse now the Scarlet will take that spot, but then its a red.

Jab, Jab, Uppercut..Knockout !! 1, 2, 3... Wow, what a fight! This is really " A HISTORIC " day - a new heavyweight champion has emerged ! We all knew you would do it RED Team -just listen to the crowd roar ! Nicely done, especially with the last minute tech assault improv on social media. Today's match up with Canon has turned me into a lifelong RED fan -I think I'm going to go to the shop and paint my car Scarlet tonight !!
