  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet and Epic BUILD 4 BETA

Power save mode is great but would it be possible to set a different power save timeout for the Redmote? I really don't need that going into power save as quickly as the body, especially when not docked or on external power.

Time lapse issue for Tom Lowe.

Since the time lapse feature integrates multiple exposures into one, is this going to cause motion ghosting artifacts when Tom Lowe mounts his camera on vehicles such as car hoods, the front of boats, etc.
When stabilizing the shots, one would think that this might cause either a perception of blurring or possibly ghosting.
The rail systems that move much slower might be ok, except for the whip pan of his favorite Bristlecone pine tree.
I can see the possibility of some time lapse shots having to go back to a still camera with a single long exposure.

Oh yes! Let's not forget night shots of traffic. The new time lapse might chop these shots up into strange sections.

When ramping was introduced with the Arri 435 years ago we could choose how to compensate the exposure. Either with shutter or with an iris motor.

This was a great system and it worked very well.

A similar way to control the exposure and keep it consistent would be great. Even if it required an external control box or an iPad etc.

(I had given up on the pal support from red. I was about to sell the scarlet and stick with the epic, but then the price crashed and its now not worth selling. Who knows, maybe there will be an update path to epic with it. Maybe not. But given all of these wonderful firmware updates the missing out of 2 fps increase in 3k shows a real lack of understanding of real world needs for clients who do not live in the USA. It's a pretty big world out there...)

Amazing build - huge thanks to the Red team!

Used this build on a wildlife shoot yesterday and the pre-record feature was mind-blowing, completely changed our workflow in the field - didn't have to be constantly downloading cards to the laptop!

I echo other people sentiments, if the pre-record could also have a 5sec option this would be perfect. Best Xmas present I have had in a long time.

I'm definitely having some monitor fritzing out when I return to preview from playback. Vertical bars of static and the monitor sometimes go completely black. Unplugging the cable from the camera side fixes it. Is this known or do you want a log file?

Settings > Maintenenance > Calibration

Test so far with Black Shading for 'current FPS / Exposure) >>> IMPRESSIVE !!! can't see any hot pixels in the dark (RCX @ 100%)
Tests with Frame Averaging = 4 (& 1sec exposure)

Question : are the exported calibrations (under the Calibration folder), are these left untouched on the SSD when the media is reformatted (or does one SSD have to become the settings repository) ?

So you have to move the AF rectangle BEFORE magnifying? You can't move around once you are in magnify mode?

Also, what is "d-pad" ?

Yes, you must select the position before magnifying to 1:1. Also not available while recording like before.

The d-pad would be the directional buttons found on the redmote or side-handle.

Same problem here ... but getting more rare ... sometimes (if you wait) it does fix itself.
I usually bounce/change the refresh rate to fix it (Settings > Display > Monitor Control > set frequency to 59.94).
I find that it does revert to 30 at times ? when I specifically set it to 59.94

Formatting the SSD will completely wipe the SSD. If you'd like to save the calibration files, you must offload them before formatting.

OK, thanks for confirming that.

How do I get the directional buttons on the RedMote to move the rectangle? Currently they just move the selection across the menu bar.
