RPAs...

Any update?

Jim I know you got a million other things going on -please come back to the RPA's...I've resisted Red Primes in favor of RPA's...would happy to give you a sizable deposit.

JJ, I'd rather pay more for the anamorphics if the trade off is not having to hear "They're great lenses for the price." How about making all future lenses so all we hear is "They're great lenses." Ditto future RPP's, especially the ones with Cooke's i configuration.

My prediction:

The RPAs will be announced along with what I think will be a FF RED Dragon sensor.
The resulting images aquired at a jaw droping full 6K anamorphic will be the last bell that tolls, finally converting Speilberg and Nolan to Digital Cinema. : )

That was my thought as well Ian. No need to announce RPAs until they have a 4:3 chip. I don't know if Epic will be able to handle a FF sized chip though so maybe just an academy 35mm chip. I think the FF chip camera line will come late 2012/2013, although I really hope Dragon is FF. Don't forget there was also the Electronic Lenses announced as well for Full Frame.

this is gonna be hot!

Are you trying to get a reaction from Red to know what they're up to regarding the RPAs ?

Looking at Jim's roadmap published recently : http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?63159-RED-Roadmap...

They are not planned anymore, but one never knows of course.

You could however have made your intentions a little more clear when digging up an old thread in which no one has posted in nearly a year...

Cheers,
Damien

are you "guessing" that they are not planned anymore? (considering the Dragon/Monstro sensor upgrades and looking at the same post which includes at the bottom of it surprise#1 and 2)
there is nothing official from RED that says they are postponed or halted,
cheers.
