Is there a unit anyone can recommend for a follow focus for a single operator using a ronin, almost like the control I have for the pan and title?

Steve

We use armor man II and then the dji focus on the handle bar then single operator can do the focusing quite easily as you pretty much can control the bar with only one hand.

like Bjorn said we use the Steadicam / Steadimate and mount the follow focus controller on the handlebar. That coupled with the thumb controller gives us full control. I have also added my iPhone 6s w/ foolcontrol and now have total control with single op

maybe I am dumb but I cant find links to buy any of this stuff

Contact tilta directly, I think the armor man II is not listed for sale but last time I was in contact with them to buy a second unit they could ship the same day.

DJI focus is on the DJI page.

Björn, is the armor man 2 any good?

It´s really good. So much better than I ever though it would be. The only bad thing with it is that when you get into it, it really feels aokward to do ronin stuff without it. Love the "hands free" feature of armor man II, we also got the armor man I arm rests which work nice for in take operator swaps and such but only used those ones. Also love the Vlock plate on the back. We got a Dtap cable going out along the arm and then we can choose to take power from the ronin to camera (DJI power distribution box) or from the battery on the back of the vest to camera. Simply by moving the Dtap from one to the other.

Then we also use the cinemill dovetail for ronin with weights, as when using the armor man the weight does not matter much and it makes it very easy to balance big lenses, matte boxes etc. So normally we fly with 4 big weights on the dovetail and take power from the Vlock backpack thing on the armor man. That allow us to have big lenses and also we can roboot the ronin without camera shutdown by just pushing the button on the ronin battery. If thats done when that battery also power camera and focus system... well then both camera needs to restart and focus system needs to recalibrate after a ronin battery swap or such.

so really looking forward to get a few of those slim Vlocks jarred posted pictures of then camera can use those when gimbal is shaping battery. But still nice to have a big fat 190Ah Battery on the back of the vest.

Ronin / armor man pic from our last shoot in the swiss alps, the setup was used as A or B cam on each setup. Jocke or DoP was tangled up in that stuff for 4 days, no complains. :)

What kind of lenses you use ?
If it is electronic lenses with nikon or canon mount my app foolcontrol (as mentioned by Marcel above) has a new single operator mode with an 'eyes off' focus mode...
You can also look into RTMotion latitude with a thumbwheel to control either external motors or internal ones... Making it a great single op focus device.

sorry forgot to mention leica r's with letax nikon mount on speedbooster to gh4
