  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rokinon Cine Primes on EPIC, first Impressions

I use a contax zeiss 50mm 1.4 to round out my kit. I matches speedwise but is still fully manual. I had to put a stepup ring and 82mm spacers to make up the size difference though. Still looking for a nice 100mm macro for the kit.

After using the stills versions of the 35 and 85, I'm really considering getting getting these cinevised versions, but I've heard horror stories about the 24 not being in the same league as the 35 and 85. Dropbox bandwidth is maxed out, is there anywhere else the .r3ds can be hosted?

Wow sorry guys just got a notice from Dropbox, they suspended the files due to excessive traffic lol.

Trying to swap hosting at the moment.

Patrick: I'm pretty sure these cine primes have a hard stop at infinity !! I ll make sure i try them around the F8 mark on the weekend.

Hey Dominik, any chance of getting the same type of 14, 25, 35, 85 comparison but all wide open (particularly the 24, 35, 85)? I kind of wanted to see how they'd intercut in terms of distortion when they're at t1.5.

Has anyone used these lenses with an FF?

I havent had a chance (since I dont own one yet) to try one.

Yes. On my OConnor CFF1 with the O-Focus Hard Stop Handwheel I get almost 400 degrees of rotation using the 35 tooth gear. So, that is plenty of rotation for accurate focus. I get a little over 180 degrees rotation with the Cine Handwheel. The most remarkable thing about the lenses is the fact that there is no lateral image shift when you rack to a mark and then reverse the rack. They act like a true cine lens in that respect and not like just about any other still lens. That was a real surprise the first time I tried it.

Shot a spot yesterday on the 35mm with a Barco wireless FF. Worked fantasticccccly...

I love these lenses, I have the 14mm cine, 35 cine, and 85 cine...need to get that 24mm though. And get the damn 50 out, guys!

Try the Contax 100 2.8 Macro

Given how cheap these lenses are, I'm definitely interested in purchasing a set just to have.

Absolutely, for the money you cant go wrong with these.

Yes I will do some "wide open" comparisons of all the focal lengths on the weekend.

Hello Dominik,

My lenses have a infiity position but the hard stop is at "past-infinity".
Pat

you're right, I was tripping this morning...I blame the lack of sugar in my system. they stop just at the end of the L shape, which i think is still an improvement since most canon and nikon photo lenses for example go well past infinity which I find quite annoying.

Nice Dominik, I see you did get yours too, I hope you like them as much as I do... Considering... ;)

Its still raining byt I have a glamour shoot on sunday so I hope I can give them a try, will post the results here ^^
