  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rokinon Cine Primes on EPIC, first Impressions

Witness markings on these lenses is way off, the 14mm is appalling .......but still a nice lens.

Always a bit "iffy" on most still lenses but more so on the Samyangs/Rokinons. Which isn't a problem, as long as you throw that tape measure in the bin & use the focus check function on a Red.

I like both lenses. I really like the 14mm. Somehow the shots dont feel distorted.

I think everyone with marks that are off or soft image got a bad copy. I had to go through 3 14mm and 2 24mm to get them sharp and with marks. But now they are perfect

I shot a little piece recently to really push these lenses. Found them to have a slightly warm creamy feel. My set are nice and sharp over t2. Quick grab from the 85mm, lot of movement so hard to find one where he was perfectly still @ 180 degree shutter. Right click image and choose open in new window to see larger version.

Dominik Im around the corner from you in Varsity as well.

I keep telling people about these lenses. For the price they're so convenient. Sometimes I feel like I would be better off investing in "better" glass...but I just bought my epic upgrade and need my dragon sensor more than new lenses. Glad to see people using the 24mm. I despise it. I have yet to press the record button while its been mounted. One day new lenses will come. For now these will do...now if only I could figure out how to upload stills I'd share some.

you have to host them somewhere like flickr, etc. and then click the insert image button on the control bar and enter the URL to the image to embed in the post.

Or get a Dropbox and use the public link, works too.

You'r right for the color shift.

What would be intolerable to have in "Master/S5" class lenses it's ok for so low price lenses.
You certainly have to color correct your shots but the good point is that the "feel" of the lens are really close. I always color correct ALL my shots, so this color shift is not dramatic. It could be dramatic for 35mm Neg/pos shooting with an all analog post-production. It's less an issue with digital.
More than color shift there is also a difference in contrast between lenses, wich is harder (not impossible) to match.

BTW here my home made hard stop for Infinitiy ;-) I focus myself without FF but with a stick.

This is brilliant. I thought I'd just have to suffer and live in fear of going to infinity and beyond. You inspired me.

t1.5, 800 iso and some ridiculous shutter speed. Was without ND and Polarizer all day thanks to my last client who lost them. Any way. really shallow. which is cool but not here. Down res it and its decent. more coming. some b&w's and some grabs from 100fps. 35mm

iso 800 t8 60fps and i think it was a 1/250. could be wrong on that all these arent touched yet with the exception of desaturation.

I thought Rokinons had hard stops being full manual lenses and all. What am I missing here?
