ROCKETCINE-X Bugs, Comments, Help...

I should have been more exact, the footage is 4K 16:9, so no cropping and straight forward resizing.

Hello,

When footage is shot at 25p, then DPX output using ROCKETcine-X becomes 24p. Is there anyway I can set the right frame rate to output? I tried to fix the header with Monkey Extract and didn't work. Also, this seems to be a problem with REDLINE because the same thing happens with Monkey Extract.

I'm curious about ROCKET CINE-X's ability to save render profiles. It gives you three options (1 - choose a directory for every clip in the batch one at a time, 2 - save to same folder as source R3D file, 3 - save to permanent directory).

Will there be any functionality in the next build to either EDIT a render profile after it's already created, or to select a destination folder for a batch of clips irrespective of the render profile that's already been created?

Let me know if I'm not making any sense...

JD,

I second on your suggestions.

Hi everyone - just installed our new red rocket card and am trying to update the firmware but get this error:

iois-mac-pro:~ ioi$ /Users/ioi/Desktop/RED_Rocket_Installer_v1.0.7.1/RED_Rocket_MacOSX/REDrocket_OSX_firmware_1.1.4.14/Install_Firmware
-bash: /Users/ioi/Desktop/RED_Rocket_Installer_v1.0.7.1/RED_Rocket_MacOSX/REDrocket_OSX_firmware_1.1.4.14/Install_Firmware: Permission denied

I tried repairing permissions using disk utility.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Noel,

Are you logging in as administrative account or root?

Edgecode?

Edgecode?

Is there a way to export quicktimes with edgecode instead of time of day? Regardless of which one I have displayed in RocketCine, the quicktimes only export with time of day. These are on shots that were set to edgecode display in camera and the reference files come through with edgecode as well. Is there a setting I'm overlooking? Deanan? Thanks.

no luck - tried logging in as root user

any other ideas

thnx again

I remember one thing now, you have to install the driver first to update the firmware.

Noel,

My first card was faulty and to figure anything wrong with the card, email deanan at red dot com to figure out.

Deanan,

One request please. Please make it work with 2-byte code, so non English names of folders can be used.

When I click the Metadata tab on the left it shows that each clip has a color temp of 4233K and tint of -9....even though the camera was set to 5600K tint 0 (confirmed in camera and with RedAlert.
It shows incorrect metadata regardless of clip, reel, day of shooting etc.
I kind of found this out the hard way. Not sure if I'm missing something?

Also I noticed when I output to Avid DNx 1080P 8Bit 36 the clips are substantially lighter than when I create a "look" (for that same clip) with s-curve save it, select clips and then apply. The rendered out DNx mov is substantially lighter in the blacks. Of course viewing on the same 24" LED Cinema Display monitor (in Snow Leopard)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Well...... I have it working now. A clean OS install cleared up the updating firmware problem. I then faced the problem that my radeon 4870 was listed in sys profiler as only using x4 lanes. Per Deanan's suggestion I switched the cards around and voila it worked and continued to work when I switched them back. Thinking the problem was solved I buttoned down all the hatches but this time the RR showed up as only 4x. Well to make a long story short it turns out if one of my drives (a WD 750gb) is installed it interferes with the pcie lane allocation. Of course it took me quite awhile to realize it was only this one drive causing the problem but all's well that ends well I guess. Still pretty mysterious to me how a drive could mess things up so much.

Hi,

I've just got REDROCKET today and immediately installed on my "older" Mac Pro (known better as Mac Pro 2,1) 3.0GHz Dual-Core/8-core processing 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 series processors with "gorgeous" 32GB memory from OWC.

That was must have card from early beginning for all RED users.

What do I have more in that "vintage" Mac Pro box:

- NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
- AJA KONA 3 + Kona Breakout box 3 + AJA HI5-3G HD/SD SDI to HDMI converter
- ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D dual-channel Ultra320 host adapter boasts data-transfer rates of up to 640MB/s connected with re-configured Medea Video RTR 2TB offers the highest SCSI performance box.
- 23" Apple Cinema Display
- 30" Apple Cinema Display
- 24" HP DreamColor LP2480zx + Calibrations Kit for HP LP2480
- Panasonic Full HD plasma at size from 42 to 50 is coming soon

REDROCKET plays perfect R3D files on HD 1920x1200 Apple Cinema Display monitor.

Also I decided not to buy now new Mac Pro because it is a middle time to next upgrade and I didn't want to have obsolet machine in about six months.

Old Mac Pro 2,1 fitted with maximum RAM 32GB and fast SCSI Raid (up to 640MB/s) performs perfect in all situations.

Welcome to the Club RR.

I was lucky to update my Mac Pro because our clients needed a couple of machines cheap right away, so we bought two new Mac Pros with Nehalem. The rendering time of the REDLINE is quite different from older Mac, so if you sell your machine and get the current model, the price difference of how much you sell the old one and buying the new one, towards the time you can save is well deserved I think.
I was thinking the same way as you did but I was surprised how much I was missing.

But RR helps old machines anyways.
