Hi,

I consider rehousing my Nikon AIs set or getting a rehoused set of Leica lenses. And after successfully organizing the group buy of the ProLine T2000 steadicam here on reduser, I thought about making an other group buy for lenses, if there's enough interest.

I though about rehousing the following Nikon AIs lenses... please write me, if you're interested in a group buy or your suggestions as to which lenses should be rehoused.

20mm f2.8
28mm f2.8
35mm f2
50mm f1.4
85mm f2
105mm f2.5
135mm f2.8
180mm f2.8

Cheers
David

How about for Contax?

Never used them, but most people seem to love them. How about availability? Is it possible to get them in a decent quality without to much problems? Or is it as tough as getting Leica glass?

Why do you skip nikon AIS better glas?
35 f1.4
50 f1.2
85 f1.4
135 f2.0
24 f2.0

If you are rehousing , just buy better Nikons.

The lenses in the list are lenses I own, but, as I wrote, I'm open to suggestions. I'm in contact with Nan from GLoptics and would, if there's enough interest, also contact other lens manufacturers like TLS and VanDiemen.

I might be in.
how about Zooms 17-35,28-70 and 80-200.
my primes are 18,24,35,50,85,105,135.

I would love to see a PL rehousing of this lens:

http://m.dpreview.com/previews/sigma-18-35-1-8

especially if it covers 5KFF or 6KFF

or the canon 24-70 version II... Another modern, world class optic.

I think a set of 24/35/50/85 samyang in PL mount with good focus scales, and of course the necessity of extrapolating a 50 by combining and moving elements for under 6000$ would sell well too.

Canon 24-70 f2.8 v2 looses 1/2 stop when you zoom in

I think that a pl rehousing would make the set to expensive. Given the really good Nikon and Canon mounts by RED, I think the rehouse should be focused on the mechanics. A new mount would increase the cost of the set immensely.

Nan from GL optics should send me an offer today. Will post it here, as soon as I get it.

It really makes sense to rehouse the Leica R glass.

The build quality I'd already superb and the optics are top shelf.

Id like to see the following

19 v2 elmart, 24elmarit, 28elmarit, 35 sum, 50 sum, 80sum, 135elmarit as a bare minimum.

It was a drag to see Brian Goffs project dropped since he had already done the designs and created a set for himself so most of the work was done. Maybe he'd share his design to have someone else build?

I think a few folks out there don't realize how expensive it can be to rehouse a set of lenses. I have two different sets I am investigating having done, and it almost makes more sense to find a set that has already been converted.

I'll also say that I have traded emails with Nan after the flurry of Contax to PL rehousing of late, and he tells me he will no longer rehouse Contax lenses to PL mount.

I'd be in but it has to be PL mount.

I understand that TLS will offer Leica R rehousing in a similar style housing as their new Cooke rehoused lens. Its got a cam focus mechanism which Im told is similar to the way a master Prime is constructed so may be a very good solution. We ahve two sets of Leica R's here and am interested in getting both rehoused.

Ooohhh... sounds great! :)
Do you have an idea on the price for something like this?
