REDucation

Too bad Casey, I'm in town TA at Reducation this time. Give me a call if you around.

REDUCATION SN:005 officially started

So far lots of smiles, great group from around the world.

Watch for pics later on this week.

Reducation 005 Day 4 in full speed,

Great group of students,

REDucation in Burbank

REDucation in Burbank

Here's the class photo from this weeks REDucation class in Burbank… (shot 4.5k on the MX) It was a great group of Students from all over the USA and the World, now empowered with tons of knowledge on RED production and post.

We made a field trip over to RED studios one night and they got a chance to check out an Epic and see the new RED store in action the day before it opened to the public, and had a full week of hands on training and learning, shooting with RED ONEs and MX RED ONEs and moving projects through REDCINE and viewing in full 4k via IGI's 4k rear projection setup using the Sony 4k projector.

Of note in this shot - we did a first shot of the class, and via the power of RED Rocket and 4k projection we quickly loaded that into REDCINE X and put that on the projector for this photo.

The TA's Steve, Eric, Von and Jack were fantastic - looking out for all the student shooting and adding their real world insights…

Von took some more pix of the class in action that he will post when he checks in.

Another fun week for all involved!

+ Ted

Thanks to all the Instructors, TA's and Staff involved. This has been a great source of information. These guys really know how to make a 10 or 11 hour day seem like 6 hours. Too bad there's only one day left.

REDucation

here are some more photos

Thanks to Ted and Michael, Jack, Von, Steve, Eric for eveything.

But wait....there's more photos

But wait....there's more photos

REDucation as always is trip down RED knowledge lane. You get the basic, and the advanced information. You leave with no questions just a head full of knowledge to pass as you go along. You can't keep it, it will spill out as you speak to your crew, your editors, producers, DP's and the crafter service person, yes even they will benefit by you taking this training.

Anyway, here are a few images for this #5 REDucation, Click Here.

p.s. you can download these.

A BIG thank you to Ted, Michael, Jack, Eric, Von, Steve and all of the people behind the scenes that made this awesome week run without a hitch. The days were long but the energy and enthusiasm of the Reducation team made the days fun and they just flew by.

Another BIG thank you to Jim, Jarred and all the rest of the rockstars at RED Studios that made us feel so welcome :) It was a real pleasure meeting you all.

And to all my fellow students it was great to meet you all and good luck with your Red futures :)

Keep on trucking.

All the best,

Tom

P.s. To Whoever owned that Classic Matt black pickup with the Red logos parked in Red Studios - that is what we call in the UK "the muts nuts" (seriously too cool for school:)

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all who participated in the REDucation. It's the first REDucation that I wasn't able to help with and I'm sure I missed out on a lot of great students. Michael and Ted and the rest of the gang did a great job I'm sure.

Congrats guys/girls and hopefully you'll be able to take that knowledge and improve the way you and others are working with RED footage!

REDucation packs a giant amount knowledge into one week. By both taking the course in Vegas and working as a TA in Los Angeles, I've changed the way I use the camera and the way I think about my work as a result. If you have any interest in taking this course, TAKE IT, LEARN THE WAY, PASS IT ALONG.

I want to say thank you to Michael, Ted, Von, Jack, Eric and Steve for the amazing week!
I really learned a lot on the exposure front and streamlined my understanding of post workflow and data backup. You guys are amazing.

Also was really cool for Jim and Jarred to show us the working Epic prototypes during the RED studio's tour!!! thank you! can't wait to shoot with one!

Perfect!

Perfect!

It was a great week!! i am a post guy and i didn´t know why i couldn´t get the great images i always saw on RED reels! Now i get it!!
Reducation is a first big workflow class, from this is the red camera to.. here you give this to your clients!! Camera settings... workflow... softwares... storages... 4K projector... production politics... real cases scenarios..
HISTOGRAMMMM (i am fighting this one in my home town for some time)
Thank you to Michael, Ted, Von, Jack, Eric and Steve .. i know that you guys have a lot of big gigs runing... it was great to learn so much this past week!

Luis ignacio barrague
conforming editor - workflow - data manager
...and know Digital tec with RED knowledge :auto:

-Epic runing at 7pm with iso 2000 ....hauhauhauhau!! you need to see it to belive it!

Great pics Von! Thank you for a great week :)

This course should be compulsory with every RED Sold, it gives you such an amazing overview of how the Red fits in many post workflows; from start to finish! The detail and clarity in which everything is explained was outstanding, I came into this course with many questions that are hard to find answers for even on this great forum and everything is now clear! It has given me a new level of confidence when using this unique camera system.

Thanks again to all the lecturers, TAs and background support staff that made this week so outstanding.

I would recommend this course to anyone that touches the RED; whether in a rental house, on set or in post - this course will blow your mind!

All the very best,

Tom

A big thank you

A big thank you

It was a real pleasure getting to meet and work with all of you.

Being an alumni of Reducation #1 and seeing Ted, Michael, Von, and Jack again was predictably great, but being provided an opportunity to assist these seasoned professionals was especially rewarding. (though I did miss the presence of Steve and Casey)

I'm not sure if I learned more from Reducation v1 or from my partners in crime this time around :-)

One thing is for certain, as excellent as it was in the first iteration, Ted and Michael have streamlined and refined the content and it's even better than before.

I've been a big cheerleader for Reducation as the in depth knowledge I received there helped jump start my understanding across all areas from production acquisition to post.

The fact that all the teaching assistants / instructors helping Ted and Michael are former Reducation alumni and feel strongly enough about the program to step away from their careers and travel to LA to help out should provide compelling evidence about how strongly former students feel about the value of the program.

A sincere thanks to the entire team, and particularly the students for their passion and energy.

It was a very rewarding week, and I encourage the community at large to do everything in their power to support the program.

Stephen
