  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED's RED ROCKET MOBILE - Who wants one -

I just posted in another thread I'd like to see a more of an integration of red rocket into an I/O card and break out box to work with red files in NLE natively. AMA is not great in Avid for big projects. Final Cut is no where and not sure what premiere is like. Would it not be great if Red teamed up with AJA, Black Magic, and Matrox to make a red flavour (licensed by red) of the their cards which can do what Red Rocket can do, but work with NLE?? I know there are limitations, but maybe for now as avid is working, it automatically renders a proxy DNX when idol, and if you jump into resolve or Redcine make a change that it will update and renders a new file. I think the idea of using both a I/O card and Rocket card needs to go quickly!

Ill take two...Now!!!!!

Black Magic, Great company... RED ROCKET... I can see it now!

It would be a match made in heaven.
I can see it now.

Now this would get me excited too, even if red took say 300-500$ per unit licensing, having that suite integration would be awsome. Think of seamlessly jumping between resolve, avid or premiere, and redcine, all being able to go to a monitor. I know we have 2 of the three in Red Rocket, but in my opinion it's the NLE which is the REALLY important one. Would I be able to spit out files almost as fast on two macbook pros as one red rocket? Maybe not, but I would much rather buy two macbook pros, or a couple of 8-core mac pro towers.

As mike ross said silicone develops fast. Let Red worry about cameras and find some great partners deal with the cards. This way we can always be on the cutting edge and not bordering on obsolete. Each time I think I need a red rocket card, I look at the price, the age of the technology in them, and say Nope!

Ur crazy dude!! BTW on your bio on your website it says you are one of the most "sort" after, I'm pretty sure that should be "sought" after

Was Jannard holding one of those in his hand when he teased us with his awesome future post last week??? Just wondering...

great concept image, Mark. If I could even have one of these - and jump it around between my mobile station, my studio tower, field locations. I wouldn't even care about a price break. What I care about is mobility, and the ability to use one card between multiple machines -- and speed optimization, of course. I have already invested in one Rocket card but moving it between all applications is a big pain - I really don't want to be into two Rocket cards for $10K, just to use them on two machines. Not sure which is clunkier - moving the tower, or pulling the card....

Both options feel so much...like yesterday's technology. C'mon RED, where's that FUTURE you're always bragging about?? Do it!
