  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redrock microMatteBox shipping news

Bassam - You are a great guy and I certainly wish for you to be in the front of the line! There isn't any luck to it: we simply went from the first reservation down the list in order.

Regarding reservation numbers, the only meaningful distinction is if someone is in the first 50 or after that. the microMatteBox is not like a more expensive smaller run camera (say for example :) ): Once the button is pushed we produce all of them. we just get the first 50 earlier. Sweating anything more detailed than that won't be productive for you or us.

Hello Brian,

I am not sure if your up or taking this long weekend off but I am hoping you might be able to answer my question. I can't seem to find any finalized pricing for your matte box. And I am currently bidding on one on eBay. I would prefer to purchase yours but I just don't know the final price. And are there any pictures of your final design?

We haven't released final pricing, but all along we've talked about our base configuration target price of $500 US.

The photos on our product page are pretty close to the final version (i.e., its the final design but the materials have changed)

I have put in at least two reservations for your matte box quite a while ago (only want one though), I did it twice because to this date I haven't received any email confirmation from RedRockMicro at all. No updates, nothing.

Really really really need your matte box!!! Can you check and see if I am indeed on some list somewhere? Thanks!

Hey Brian,

do you have a unit that we could use this coming weekend for the LART shoot?

It would be great to have one to put on the RED that will have the Birger mount which will be used with my entire L series lenses from Canon, it will not only make switching the Primes a pleasurable experience but it will give many a great opportunity to test out the MatteBox it self ( I have no doubt it is a great unit ).

Also to get my 3 MatteBox for my RED's do I have to make more reservations?

Lart Test is definately a good idea. Test results from there will be closely watched by RED USERS around the globe. I for one, will make up my mind based on these test results about lenses and other accessories. So Brian it is DEFINATELY A GOOD IDEA if you could provide one matte box to Lart.

Birger Engineering is providing their lens mount system and they are taking Lart opportunity to annouce their gear to general public.

So Brian if you want to be heard FAR and LOUD, Lart is the way to go.

Steve- we have sent all updates to steve@resortimages.com and you are definitely on the reserve list.

Regarding the upcoming shoot you don't need to sell us on working with LART - we don't yet have a matte box available, but when we do you can be sure we will participate in as many test shoots, reviews, etc. as we can

I still don't know if I need anything else in the way of adapters etc. to put the Redrock matte box directly on the Red. Does it come ready to go?

Peter,

The website specifies 15mm rod system, as you know most of the gear down here is 19mm apart from the older 16mm cameras. I wonder if they also have a 19mm option?
 
when you follow the whole thread you'll find a notice from Brian that he'll build a 19mm option, without an adapter, like you would need otherwise.
