  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDONE Collaborative Free Training- LOS ANGELES

GREAT NEWS. As of now we are 95% certain. Alot of you have PM'd me and I know some will be traveling from outside the US, so I will post the exact day and time as soon as I have final confirmation. Thank you all. This will be a wonderful event.

We should also have a few CF readers to offload/copy the footage to people bringing the cards. Most people won't have fast enough CF cards to shoot directly to them. I have a CF reader to bring but since it sounds like we'll have quite a few MB pros, we should have two CF slots (two readers or one reader with two slots) for each to facilitate the copies.

I think people could bring thumb drives/portable drives as well.

Thom,

I won't be bringing cards, but I will bring two of the FW 800 card readers with me. Along with my Macbook Pro and FCS 2, and a big hard drive.

My business partner and I would love to come. We have some equipment we could bring, lights, etc.

My business partner and I would also love to come. This would be an incredible opportunity, one for which I'd be very grateful!

I'm not sure what I have to bring, you probably have all the computer needs covered, but we each have new MacBook Pros with 4 gigs of RAM, 2.4 Ghz core duo IIs, etc.

On the October 5th weekend at 9 am we are holding a complete Redone- hands on training demo. From image aqausition to final delivery.

IMAGED ACUASITION- We will shoot on the red drive's (if available) and CF cards, on all formats available, with all lenses available. INT. DAY, INT. NIGHT, EXT. DAY, EXT NIGHT. Custom scenes, charts, and various subjects.

Everyone that brings a proper CF card can shoot some samples and take footage home with you to play with at your own leasure (depending if we have enough time)

We will do a light primary CC if Redcine is available on both an Intel Mac, and an Intel PC. Then we will ingest the footage into and edit on respectively- FCP, PP, Vegas, and Avid.

Then we will CC with FCP's Color, and Scratch to allow the attendees to see the difference in workflow.

Finally we will output to a 2k projector, HD cam 1080p master, Blue Ray Disc, and DVD. And view the footage.

the only thing missing are the lenses, charts, lighting and props, monitors, studio space, Intel Mac, Intel PC, FCP, PP, Vegas, Avid, FCP's Color, Scratch, 2k projector, HD cam deck, Blue Ray Disk burner and disk, a couple colorist, a few editors, some AC's, DP's that are used working with Digital.

Besides that I have everything. I'll bring my #87 Red One with the optional CF slot and 2 8GB CF cards that your all welcome to shoot on.

A few more Red ones, perhaps Red lenses would be great.

Thanks

Here is the update. Thanks to our wonderfull community we have most of the tools we set out for. We will have the RedOne hands on training demo. The official Demo will be on Sat Oct. 6th. If we reach copacity and the demand requires, will have a similar event on Sun. the 7th.

Neil Smith from www.RPMpost.com has graciously offered to house our session in their facility. They have a Barco 2k DLP projector, SCRATCH, FCP MacPros with COLOR, DI theater that seats 33 and a 20 foot screen ... plus two really good colorists that know Apple COLOR and SCRATCH. They are based in West Hollywood on the old Warner Bros movie lot . They have a very large gym where we could set the RED camera up and shoot some scenes. After we'll take groups of 30 or so to view a post demo, followed by a screening on the 2K projector.

Everyone else that has offered to bring from their computers, to food, to Beer- thank you. I will see what else we need as we get closer to the date and contact you. For sure if you want to take home footage you should bring a 200 dollar 8GB card:)

As of yet I'm not aware of any PC editing- PP, Vegas, Avid. Being contributed. We will work on that for anyone who may be interested.

So what I need right now is for those of you that are sure you can make it to RSVP by emailing me at veugene@gmail.com. I will confirm with each of you.

Once again thank you all and I look forward to meeting each of you and having a successful RedOne Demo everyone enjoys and learns from.

Thanks, that would be helpful. The venue is at RPMpost

I can bring actors with a rehearsed scene and lights (sounds like you've already got those in the studio though). Is a scene something you'd like to work with or do you guys just want to do tests? Either way I'm looking forward to it!

" just say no to the word IMPOSSIBLE"

I'm there. I can bring lights and sound equipment ... I also know a ton of actors and attractive women (some of them can act).

What will we be shooting?

I will know in a few days if I can be there... I don't think they will have the PC side of things up and running.... But I'd love to be there. Sound people!!!! do you guys have non tape solutions? I'm curious how all the syncing gets done.... I'm sure once the cameras get enabled it will be super easy to record straight to the same CF card.... thanks for doing this.

It is confirmed. The training session will be at 10am on Saturday October 6th at RPMpost located at 1041 N.Formosa Ave. West Hollywood, CA 90046

After a suggestion I've posted a poll

Please don't forget to RSVP as everyone needs a clearance pass to get on the lot, also to avoid an overcrowded situation

thank you,

Vladimir Eugene

Vladimir,
Thanks for organizing this not-so-little training session. My partner and I would love to come but need to rearrange a few things first. Will let you know tomorrow. Might be able to bring a MacBook Pro and a digital scope but it sounds like you probably have that covered.

Vladimir,

I will absolutely be there, and I think my business partner will as well.

We have a MacBook with FCP2; I see that you've already got others volunteering the same, but with the number of attendees, you could probably use another. :) Barring that, we'll chip in as well for food and drinks, gladly.
