  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 5...

When scrolling with a mouse scroll wheel or a trackpad up and down through the "look" window there seems to be a lot of lag or erratic movement. Works fine if you grab the scroll bar with the pointer and move it. Also everything works smooth scrolling through bins and other windows.

Known bug in the UI toolkit and out of our control currently.
Should be fixed in an upcoming version once it's fixed.

Okay Not sure why this is, but my rocket card slowed to a snails pace on the new build. So much so that I was worried it was broken. Originally thought alchemy might be the issue, but i turned of all post effects and it was still WAY slow, went back to 454 and it still flies. So is this a simple rocket card bug with RCPX or what?

Why is the snapshot render result is different from the viewer ? More contrast..

Hi Ian,

Are you seeing the slowdown in the Viewer, or on a transcode? If a transcode, what, if any, crop do you have applied and what format are you transcoding to?

Thanks,
David

The viewer, but only when Alchemy is on, but more importantly on the transcodes. No Crop exporting as 1920x1080 Prores 422HQ 24 from 4k 16:9 24 FPS. It was almost as bad as no rocket card ( at half debayer) as it 3 hours of footage took roughly 24 hours to transcode. I went back to RCX 454 and had no problems at all. 3 hours took 3 hours.

Alchemy is a post processing effect that does not run on the Rocket

Rob,

But the first part, the debayer part, is still accelerated by the Red Rocket i think, no ?

Antoine

Second question Rob,

Would 2 Red Rockets help for Alchemy post process ?

Antoine

Yes to debayer. Two Rockets is not going to help with Alchemy, it will just speed up decoding & debayer.

Wait, RCX 5 has DUAL rocket support to speed up single R3D transcoding? I thought it was only for 3D. Are there settings (and data to support how much faster) for 2 rockets?

That was the problem I was having though, Even with Alchemy off, debayer times were horrible.

Yep, I believe it currently supports up to 3.

Please email log files when this was happening to redcinex at red dot com. Thanks

Which version of RCX did you "Update"to?

"Look" pane - "Post: Look: Effects" near bottom of the pane . just below "Wheels"

I'm on version 506
Hmm.. I can't see anything labeled "look" pane, "Post: Look: Effects", or "Wheels"

Would this be under clip settings -> look presets ? This is getting confusing.

Emil,
The post looks effects are available in RCX Pro. The post look effects are not available in the 506 version you have. You need to install RCX Pro (Beta 5 or newer [Beta 8]) in order to use these new features. Thanks.
