  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 5...

Love Alchemy. Obviously going after those who don't believe Red is filmic enough even with HDRx and Magic Motion...contrast, detail, and grain...all nice tools to play with. Already having to regrade stuff I pumped out...but it's a great problem to have!

I love this release.

Alchemy is great.

The in point and out point tool need to be look at. might be a bug. I will test it more. Any else experience it please help me?

On Epic 5k footage I'm having audio sync issues. Audio is sped up. On quad core Mac with 12 GB ram and RR card.
Anyone else have this?
I did not have this with beta 4.

Alchemy is amazing !!!
Could you explain more specifically what it does please?
I like it but I can't figure exactly how it works...
Is it me or noise is less present with Alchemy ?

Looks like a great new set of tools to use on our footage. Love how things keep progressing with RED. Now my big question is where is the "send to Adobe" function and what does it do. As far as I can tell currently, the Alchemy effects do not show up in Premiere CS5.5 yet.

On the stills panel you can select a still and send it as a tiff to either Lightroom or Photoshop. On the export panel you can right click on a finished transcode and perform a similar action. Ditto from inside a bin. You can expect our interoperability with Adobe products to grow.

when will plugins be possible. would love to see plugins from redgiant , sapphire and others directly in redcinex

We will support both 3rd Party and more RED plugins later on. Both paid and free.

Tooled around (it comes naturally to a tool) in Beta 5 for a few moments. One word: wow.

Not loving the 3-4 seconds it takes for any change to appear on the image, even playing with the single frames from Jarred's warehouse shoot.

Same complaint I've had from day one of the last Redcine...

i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, GTX570...should not be unable to process single frames...

I'll place my Scarlet-X order the very instant ACR supports r3d stills, but...

That's odd. Any change I make appears on the image pretty much instantly; I'd say in approx. half a second. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on an ancient Core i7-920 (2.67GHz), 12 gigs of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6870.

Debugging your problem would be easier if RED would tell us what processes and resources RCX hooks on to so you could make sure those bits are up-to-date, and maybe try uninstalling/re-installing them. It's clear there's something blocking your system from working as fast as it could. [/Captain Obvious]

So how does the new Saturation slider near Alchemy in Look>Effects differ from the usual Saturation in Look>Image? Should I be using one over the other?
