  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 35 Beta

Kemalettin,

It could be because you have RMD files that still reference the frame guide setting.

As for saturation, I assume you are talking about the stills workspace. The default raw development saturation was dropped in favor of the post effect saturation which is more favorable for grading stills.

Thanks,
David

RREncode plugin is giving me problems. I install it, and then try to use it in export, it outputs audio and video files of size 0. And if I restart RCX then I have to reinstall the plugin again. I m using RCX 35.1.38139.

RCX crashes on trying to access Preferences / System panel

RCX crashes on trying to access Preferences / System panel

I installed the latest OS X update,
and now if I try to access the Preferences/System panel in RCX, RCX crashes and closes

I was able to access these preferences yesterday and I set it to use CUDA,
I m not sure why OS X update should cause RCX to start crashing.
Please help.

I was able to resolve the RCX crashing problem.

My problem started after I installed the latest security update for OS X 10.9.5

I found that OS X update had disabled the NVIDIA driver and switched to OS X driver
I tried installing the latest NVIDIA Quadro driver, but it complained that the driver was not suitable for this version of OS X
So I googled, and found that I just needed to manually hack the version number in System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
Followed that up with installing the latest nvidia quadro driver
And rebooted.
Opened RCX, and was able to access the preferences/system screen without crashing.

Hope this post and link below would be helpful if anyone else comes across this same problem

Sometimes when selecting the 3D LUT option checkbox and selecting a LUT, nothing happens. If I take a snapshot, the snapshot has the LUT applied and once exported the LUT displays fine in the viewer. Also, in this event, switching to 1/2 res will display the LUT while Full res will not. Very weird behavior indeed. Overall I love the ability to use LUT's.

I'm working in OSX on a Macbook Pro Retina running build 35.1.38139

I'm still getting large periods of unresponsiveness while using hardware acceleration on all versions afer 33 (running on a 2014 15" Macbook Pro with OSX 10.9.5). 35.1 seemed to improve things a bit while initially loading clips, but it's completely unusable for any kind of workflow.

Yogesh -- please fully uninstall the plugin from the RRENCODE preference panel and reinstall. It should fix this problem.

Alan, can you send us a system report (Help -> Save Report) to redcinex at red dot com? Does the unresponsiveness happen when changing workspaces, or changing tabs? Does it happen in the viewer? etc ..

Thanks,
David

Anybody having problems importing .XML files?

Anybody having problems importing .XML files?

I am trying to import .XML files into REDCINE-X 35 and nothing happens. If I reinstall a previous version it works fine.

Hi Mike,

We are aware of this issue and it will be fixed in the next release.

Thanks,
Diane

I apologize if this was already covered.

Whatever happened to the project tab in the timeline bar at the bottom? I really miss being able to scroll through the clip list and click once to load into the viewer for watching dailies. Now as far as I can tell I have to keep the browser left tab open and need to double click to watch clips. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Build 36 has been released! Updated through Red Player (as for whatever reason, I was using 35 just fine, then yesterday, stopped working, and could't get to open after re-install and everything...)

This has fixed the above problem. lol

Hi David,
I didn't have time to reinstall 35 and recreate the bugs over the last month - apologies. I'm trying version 36 now, and was having the same unresponsiveness issues (basically whenever any parameter for a clip is altered or when a clip is loaded into the viewer), but have noticed that they go away for a while after a restart of my computer. I am getting some fairly regular crashes in 36 though, and am sending a log to you before reverting to 33.

Another problem I'm having with Build 36 is that it will pause during exports for no apparent reason.

Hey Diane/Dave, now that you can choose to apply a LUT from within RCXp, would it be possible to give RCXp renders (specifically prores renders) an embedded flag that tells FCPX to use a LUT (specifically pointing to said LUTs location)?

I know that FCPX does this with other cameras that shoot Log files (specifically Arri and Blackmagic cameras... actually I think it does it with their raw & prores files.) So when you drag the file on the timeline, FCPX will automatically apply a default normalizing LUT of your choice (e.g. Rec709), whereas with R3Ds you still need to make an RMD, and even when you do, LUTs applied within RCXp don't carry over to other apps (when, technically speaking, there is nothing preventing it).
