  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 35 Beta

I'm getting long periods of unresponsiveness after almost every action while running it under OSX 10.9.5 on a 2014 Macbook Pro.

Just saw that there is thumbnail support in the new camera build as well. Wow that will really be useful since I like to review my shots in camera. Has anyone tried yet? Looks super useful.

I still miss the delete clip feature for when I'm out in the field.
I missed some incredible shots yesterday. Sunrise and lambs running around, I ran out of my SSD and we were about to wrap and the lambs begun jumping. Lambs jumping in the sunset and no card left, ugh.
My director said "oh, just delete some clips that we took"
I said "uhh, I can't"
director: "Why not?!!"
Me: "uhh, you can't on the Red cameras"

Next time I'm bringing more clips to the sunset, should fix the problem too :)

Not being able to delete clips is probably a reason to get people to invest in more redmags. Buy more redmags and you'll be safe capturing those lambs....

What monitor / projector would you hook that up to and what type of SDI connection doest that monitor / projector use?

Currently, all my UHD/4K monitors only accept HDMI signaling. My quest for SDI or DP is to support greater bit depths, HDMI is the immediate need. Thanks Rob.

Cheers - #19

Turning off GPU support fixes the unresponsiveness problem. It seems to be an issue with this build and the GeForce 750m (unresponsiveness occurred both with CUDA enabled and with OpenCL).

With Premiere (Media Encoder as well), Latest version of Quicktime and Build 35 installed I am missing ProRes codec options under export menu. Do I need an additional Codec pack from Apple?

EDIT: Just noticed it is the first option in the pulldown. My eyes deceived me. Thanks.

prores not working for me.. nor any other exports.. hitting go doesn't even put the job into the queue..no error feedback

whenever i hit the "export" tab..which is a good idea, screen real estate was getting silly low.. the bloody clip in view regenerates its previews ?! and redcine is unresponsive until its finished..that "function" needs to get removed..

..oh well.. thats why its beta..

edit: actually, its pretty unresponsive period
edit2: now i get "error starting quicktime config, is quicktime installed?" .. yes, and its a pro license.. same version you used 5minutes ago.. urgh..

Try this. Setup an export preset using Apple ProRes. Then go to the EXPORT screen.
Once there, go to the Presets panel, choose your clip, project or whatever, choose the preset and hit the export button. That's how I get it to work.

Just for a test, I also imported a bunch of clips into a Project, highlighted four of them in the EDIT screen, chose Export, used ProRes and pressed the Export button, within a few seconds they appeared in the EXPORT queue, although the first one was paused. It doesn't seem to work if you only choose one.

If I'm in the EXPORT screen I can pick files from the media bin and export them without using a preset, but not in ProRes4444XQ. That doesn't appear to be supported.

Thanks for the information, we are looking into these problems. Note that for XQ you have to have a log curve selected, REDLogFilm for example. Attempting to export to XQ without a log curve should have lit up a status notification.

Thanks,
David

Yeah ... this build of RXC is pretty sick. Finally getting a change to kick the tires after NAB mayhem.

The ONLY thing I can think of that I want that is still missing - is the ability to change raw parameters separately on HDRx A and X frames - instead of one set of RAW parameters that process both HDRx exposures. And CDL values need to go to RMD, of course.

But BRAVO to Rob's team - lots of awesomeness in this build.
