  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 35 Beta

Brian,

They not available by default, but you can put them there. For color/gamma space, check "Enable Advanced Controls" in the preferences. To get the color wheels, right click in the right panel and check "Look : Lift Gamma Gain"

Just tested out the RED Tether function ! I thought it would work by directly plugging into the ethernet port on my Windows machine but it did not - hooked it up to our router and BOOM worked straight away.

That is pretty crazy ! Im guessing it is limited to 14:1 due to bandwidth restrictions ? or have I set something up wrong.

I can see a few situations where this could come in real use!
Cracking job on everything that is coming out at the moment guys - picked up our Epic to Dragon converted camera a few days ago so testing out all these goodies is a lot of fun!

You can direct plug or through a switch Jonathan

Any news on when the video out on the RRX will be unlocked? Is never a possibility? How much of the full features of the card are still locked and is it possible to have an explanation why?

REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS DOWN BELOW. ME TOO WOULD BE REALLY HAPPY TO GET SOME OFFICAL ANSWERS ON RR-X VIDEO OUT CAPABILITIES, ESPECIALLY 4K SDI-OUT.

1.
Hey ROBCODE Santa Claus - just wondering how close are you to getting UHD/4K out of the SDI ports on RR-X???

Cheers - #19

3.
WILL RR-X BE ABLE TO (AT SOME FUTURE DATE) TO OUTPUT 4K VIDEO FROM THE CARD WHEN WORKING WITH R3D-CLIPS IN FCPX AND DISOLVE?

Hey guys the SDI ports now work on RRX

Why do you need UHD SDI out? What monitor are you using that makes it worth while? Sony is charging $30k for Rec2020 4K monitor.

Sorry, but this is too funny not to quote :)

DisplayPort is not enabled yet, beyond that we'll see.

The output from the Rocket-X is limited to 2k/1080p and Redcine-X. If anyone really wants a ubiquitous 1080p or even 4k HD-SDI or HDMI output, then they should invest in an output device from AJA or Blackmagic, the mini-monitor is $135 and will offer 1080p 10bit output with almost any NLE or vewing software including Redcine-X.

If you're outputting the signal for viewing/coloring purposes, then 10bit consistant image color across all software and operating systems is critical.

Shiblon is correct, the Rocket-X is 2K max over SDI. We'll be able to go up to 4K on DisplayPort / HDMI.

is it me or 3d luts acting different than in Premiere?
(top left source r3d in premiere, top right KDX lut in premiere, buttom is same KDX lut in RedcineX)

Hi Hurcan,

Is this 3D LUT supposed to be applied to a log image and if so did you set that up in RCX?

Also, did you change the ordering of the effects stack in RCX at all?

If the above all looks in order it would be great if you could email us the 3D LUT and maybe the R3D snapshot at redcinex@red.com so we can take a look at it ourselves here.

Thanks!

You can change the ordering of when (post) effects are applied? Is that new?

Rob, not sure if this is a firmware request or an RCXp one, but would it be possible to have an enable/disable toggle for DRX on the embedded metadata (non-sidecar) for MX-based R3Ds? Every major NLE supports the function, so if it was auto-enabled out of the camera, I'd be able to set-it-and-forget-it regardless of where the footage ends up. You'd be surprised how often handed off footage ends up with magenta highlights.

Thanks for the information guys. The 3D LUT issue has been resolved for the next update. The good news is that it only affected display, and not export.

Mike -- you cannot change when post effects are applied in pipeline, but can however change the order in which they are applied themselves. This isn't new -- just drag them around to reorder them in the Effects panel.

Thanks,
David

Cool! Just tried it out on the latest release build (didn't really notice a difference in the image though... Was it something explicitly with the LUT application that was causing the delta?)

As for DRX, does that mean it's a firmware thing?
