How long before the MF glass goes nuts?

Better hit KEH before another lens demand wave hits the market.

Body (R1) > Sensor (MX) > Body (Epic) > Sensor (Dragon) > Body (Weapon) > Sensor (65mm / FF)

Same sensor does not mean same size

Red one MX was 4 K
Epic MX was 5K

EPIC dragon is 6K
Weapon Dragon could be 8K

Use your old moint and crop to 6K... Use new mount and use full 8K

Agreed 100%

Jarred already stated that the sensor won't change - your existing Dragon sensor will go into the Weapon body.
However, I'm still going to keep my set of Mamiya 645 Primes because you never know what's coming in NAB 2016 or 2017

And medium format glass is typically super sharp. So you can throw it on there with an adapter. I use my Pentax6x7 lenses on my scarlet all the time.

I hope this is the case... It could be a LOT of fun! Especially if high speed is incorporated ;)

Agreed - the move to Minimags suggests more data rates...which in turns more K's, more framerates, or both!

Question is...how much bigger does the Dragon sensor get?

I've been thinking about MF for some time and as the speculations started on friday I just went ahead and bought myself a nice little set of Mamiya 645 lenses as now they are silly cheap and I figure there will be an option to use them at some point, either with a MF sensor or a focal reducer of some sort.
I don't really know how much MF glass there is out there, but I think the MF trend is coming and the demande for glass will go up, and so will prices.

A thought: Two Dragon sensors flipped over and put side by side is about 60x30mm.. :)

But the MX sensor was the same for the Red One and the Epic. 27,7x14,6 with a pixel size of 0,0054. Epic used the whole sensor.
Dragon 6K is already using the whole sensor. 30,7x15,8mm with a pixel of 0,005mm. 6144x0,005=30,72.
Or am I wrong?

A slightly wider FF35 sensor (dragon pixel) is the next logical step for RED.

38.4mm x 24mm = 7,680px x 4800px

It covers:

8K UHD (4320p)
Still frame FF35
Vistavision format
True Anamorphic modes 1.33 & 1.18
IMAX (Crop 1.6 ----> 1.44 better than ever)

would that be 2 sensors stuck together like arri's 3 35mm sensors in the new 75 mm alexa?

yes please.
I went with an 8 lens set 35-200 with the apertures to match the lenses of the kit that comes with the Alexa 65.

Off to Duclos until GLoptics start re housing them.

Nice! The Alexa 65 has two sets of glass, the vintage and modern - the vintage appear to use older Hasselblads, and the moderns the newer autofocus Hasselbads. Which did you go with?!

I'd already gone with the older Hasselblads a while back - 50 2.8, 80 2.8, 110 f2, 150 2.8, 180 F4, 250 F4 and x2 Mutar. They are a mixture of FE and CFEs (the FE's are great because they are sans shutter, and often a stop faster). Considering getting the 40mm...

RP lens has modded mine, which has been great...

Are yours Hassys or Mamiyas?

Or they keep current dimensons of Dragon, and make it 4:3

I'm not sure at all and gut feeling tells me that I'm totally wrong, but is there a way to increase the distance from the back end of the s35mm lens so that the image covers a 65mm sensor? So that 35mm glass can be used with a 65mm sensor.
