My latest mod - I tapped two M4 threaded holes into the front face of the DSMC3 Monitor bridge. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but actually it was very straightforward. The walls are thick enough, there's plenty of interior room and there's nothing for the screws to interfere with in the location I put them. Now I have a perfectly-placed rod clamp at all times, with no weight penalty or excess hardware. I've been searching for a solution like this for quite a while, and finally settled on this.
