  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Rocket update...

The main chassis are in mass-production as we speak and we have also finalized the electronic issues. We expect to ship first batch before this month is over... I will post some really cool updates very soon, but we are keeping this under tight lid while all the patents are being registered...

Is it mandatory to install the SDI card that came with RED Rocket. I dont think I have any extra space for it to go. My ATI is in the bottom slot and the top part covers the second space where the SDI could go. Then, I am gonna install the Rocket in the second SLOT, then the 3rd slot is for my MX02 and the fourth is for my Caldigit raid card.

Please can someone let me know how they configured their own.. Or do i need the sdi out in order for the red rocket to work. ?

No, you don't need to install the SDI slot filler. Our MacPros are full, but we need the SDI connections, so right now we have them running out of the front through the empty DVD-ROM bay.

What do you normally run through your sdi that came with the redrocket. Can you break it down for me how you connect it through the DVD slot. I am running a Dreamcolor monitor for grading and 24 apple cinema display, I will appreciate it you guys to discribe a proper connection method for me with the red rocket.
 
Hi All,

I'm about to buy a Rocket for many reasons, but first primary reason we'll be using it for is making SD DVD renders for dailies, we are pc based, but am willing to get a mac for use with rocket, is it true at the moment, only way to use rocket for viewing dailies over hdsdi and taking advantage of fast debayering for renderring sd dailies for example would be to use a mac with red alert/rushes?

If anyone can confirm this would be great, and any timeline on pc support would also be cool.

I did not read this entire thread so I'm sorry if this has already been posted.

EDIT: I see hdsdi is working from previous posts.

Hey Troy! While the drivers for RED Rocket are available for both Mac & Win PC's - the RocketCine-X app is for now only available for Mac. Do keep in mind that all the current Apple laptops and desktops supports natively Windows. So You can have OS-X with RocketCine-X for dailies on location and switch over to Windows whenever needed for Your other apps...

Thanks Peter that sounds like an interesting idea, can mac os read ntfs formatted drives? or is there a different format that both mac os and win both read, so when switching between the two OS, we can see the same files etc.

Also is there any approx timeline for PC support, either way, I'm thinking buying a mac might be the way to go, as we'll have the best of both worlds at all times.
