  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED RAVEN! RED RAVEN! RED RAVEN!

So opinion is it might serve higher than 4K and likely not be priced for everyone?

Be cool for RED to take care of those who bet on an upgrade path rather then just the sexy sexy of the next new thing

If Weapon 8K is RED's Future and Mono still has no stated path there . . . then Mono has no apparent Future and therefore a far reduced market value. Regardless of personal preference or incredible pictures. Asset value v. aesthetics . . . two different issues

Zeb, not being facetious here, but doesn't monochrome naturally create higher resolution images than a regular sensor? If so, aren't you already in 8k territory (limited sensor-ally to 6k size?)

no future=no value? Tell that to a legion of collectors of all kinds. These cams could run virtually forever and their uniqueness and the sparsity of their numbers might just make them more valuable some day.

Good question. Let's ask the folks at RED that. Maybe that's why there's no Mono 8K upgrade path.

Just seems like maybe we do a days work in a days time ie finish what we start. Would have been cool to hear the future 8K plans for Mono at NAB. Certainly there's a 1-3-5 year plan somewhere for all these products and updates. Let's share . . . even if on Facebook only ;-)

Lol. Those are much less rare and unique than Monochromes, no? ;-)

But but hey, who knows? Maybe R1's will be dumped and the "Red One Look" will come into vogue at some point in the future.

Seriously though, I can see the Monochrome Reds being like the Bolex of the future. It could happen. :-)

I think Jarred is a little fired up about RED RAVEN as well. When I showed up to RSH today, my desk is cover with these...

Viral marketing anyone?
If RED releases a new product, it doesn't need IBC or NAB to be fair. If you develop a new niche product or the 100th cheap LED light, a trade show might help you get exposure.
But RED?
I remember how conspiracy theories developed on dvxuser when a certain top-level domain, red.com, was registered a few years back...
And obviously Jarreds little post on FB left his circle of friends, so mission accomplished...
 
Maybe it was still in a wooden box come IBC time and just not ready to announce with certainty of a timely release in relation to the show. A lot can change in a couple weeks.

Why Facebook? Nobody is jumping on his shit there. That might be one reason. ;-)

The only reason that makes sense to me is if they say "and it's available TODAY". I find that highly unlikely, even if I remember them saying that they would increasingly start to announce new product closer to the release date.

If not, why not let Raven be RED's IBC thing? It's obviously pretty much up and running? They would have gotten away with November shipping...

And for the love of everything good and beautiful: why on Facebook???! This hasn't touched Recon once, right?
