Hello everyone. My Red touch 5.0 took a dump and need to find a cheap replacement. I came across my old Red ONE monitors and wondered if they are compatible. The lemo connector fits perfectly, but I'm too chicken shit to power it on. Anyone else try something like this?
Thx!

Yes this should work fine... as a monitoring device only since those were not tactile screens...
you will have to use the side handle to control the camera as if you were running an SDI or HDMI screen.

Thanks for letting me know Mikael, I will give it a shot!

Darn, I wish I knew that years ago. Had a few of the older RED ONE LCDs lying around but since donated.
I am a fan of using the Side Handle with any LCDs even though I was so spoiled by the 7" TOUCH.

They are compatible. I have one as a deep spare for my DSMC2 kit
Was thinking of selling it recently....

There are buttons on the side that are programmable and can cycle through menus. I often use the older models in my underwater housings since not easy to do touch anyway and the buttons are easily accessible.

Compatible, no touch, awful image quality. If you need a really cheap monitor for no touch I'd look at BON VFM 055 used, or TV LOGIC 058W. Both are great, have the best of its class focus assist features and can be bought cheap today. Don't waste money on old red lcd which has bad viewing angles, bad color reproduction, and no other real features except it's lemo.

Alex - no objection to your assessment of the RED monitors' IQ but do the other monitors provide compatible control function buttons which can be useful in many situations?

Lemo and no additional power goes a long way. :)

I've never ever used my Scarlet or Epic MX without a proper screen. Maybe it's just me, but it's actually impossible to have precise focus on the RED 5.0 Touch or the others in that same size ballpark. So I've always ended up looking at the proper monitor and using touch for my AC or cam controls.

Speaking of separate power - unless using redvolts - I see no problem to use a d-tap cable to power the second screen from the battery plate. Like literally, LEMO is awesome, just wish RED monitors were more color-accurate and had some better focus features, like on the TV Logic line of screens.

But, actually DSMC3 has all of the features I've always needed in RED monitors, BUT - has lost a LEMO port and has a funky tilt and swivel stand making it literally worse then ever. Weird times.
