The R1 M-X Sensor upgrade program will begin next Friday (Jan. 22nd)

The price of the upgrade is $5750 and includes the M-X Sensor and Sensor Board replacement as well as the new upgraded Optical Low Pass Filter.

Customers that upgrade their cameras and decide to enter STAGE 1 or STAGE 2 of the epic program will receive a credit back of $1250 at the time they enter either of those 2 stages.

Footage from the upgraded cameras will need to be processed using a new version of REDCINE-X that will be released next week with the SDK to follow.

Please be advised that the upgrade turn-around time will be aprox. 2 weeks from when we receive your camera to when we ship it back to you so schedule your projects accordingly.

There is also bundle price for the sensor upgrade plus a RED Rocket™™ card for $8750.

Customers will begin receiving email invitations to enter the program next week in order of R1 Delivery date.

New RED ONEs come with the original sensor but can be purchased with the new sensor for $17,500 plus the cost of the upgrade.

wow awesome!!!! does anyone know of any comparison tests that have been shot with the REDONE 4K vs the new M-X sensor? the new sensor will be 5K in the REDONE right?

New Sensor will be 5k, but it is limited to 4.5k in the RED One as far as I know, due to hardware in the RED One.

Wow! Cool! Now I need to get some business to justify getting this, because I gotta have it!

What is the planned speed of upgrade in cameras per week?

Awesome! Do you guys have a rough breakdown of what camera #s will be upgradeable when? For example:

Red #5 - #100 Jan 20 - Feb 5.
Red #100 - #200 Feb 5. - Feb 15. etc.

I guess that will depend on how many takers you get, of course.

Note that Jarred said RED ONE delivery date, not RED ONE serial number.

Are you sure of this?

I was almost positive the sensor size, as well as inidivusal photsite size was the same, hence the same resolution in the Red One.

Would you mind linking to where this was shared if so?

EDIT: Jason is indeed correct. thanks for setting me straight.

Which is serial number for me :-).

What is planned speed of upgrade? How many cameras two week cycle?

One of these days I'll be logging in to see this kind of announcement for the Scarlets.

I am getting a bit giddy just thinking of it. :D

Congrats guys on another milestone...
