  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

Jarred,

Does it mean you need a ton of sensors for the EPIC ? or the EPIC will be released in 2011 ?

(Dont blame me :) ...reasonable question :)

+1

That was the first thing that popped into my mind. Does this mean that sensors are now being allocated for Epic production? Please say it's so!!! :)

heh heh heh... don't get too excited, still a bit of work to do :)

Glad to know I'm not the only nut who immediately thought "Epic" when the month layoff was announced :p

For RED to divert stock or production from the equipment of existing, paying customers paying for an upgrade to customers buying new equipment thereby making existing customers wait, they'd have to possess a great deal more shear stupidity than they have demonstrated in the past, in my opinion.

I was going to respond to this in strong disagreement. Then I re-read it and thought I might strongly agree. Then I realized I couldn't tell what you were saying.

Current RED owners are "paying customers" but so are those who have ordered Epic and paid deposit money. Diverting (?) sensors from one of these groups to the other might just be considered a short term inevitability since RED may not have enough on hand right now to feed both programs simultaneously. Obviously a strategic decision has to be made. I see it as a good idea to get some Epics built and ready to deliver. But, really, that's only a decision RED has the information to make intelligently.

I guess my point is that both groups are "paying customers" aren't they? Why is it stupid to balance service to both types of customers?

Okay, more clearly, if people have sent in cameras or put in payments for an upgrade, it would be nuts of RED to delay them just to supply the first batch of EPICs a little earlier. The existing customers already have cameras they are using and shouldn't be delayed. The first batch of EPIC customers are waiting and have waited a long time anyway so support the existing users first.

There is no correlation between the two. We have packaged EPIC sensors waiting. The package is different between the two. We are also scrambling to see what can be done about the surprise delay. Trust us when we tell you we are on this.

Also just got the email... :(
MX only by the end of November...
Sad day...today...

I suppose it's more like a six week delay if end of Nov. These things happen and I curse myself for not doing it earlier!
