  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

I agree. It's all about parts. It's not like they can update the cameras and send them out with 99% of the bits in them. Every single little piece, no matter what size or cost, is essential to the cameras function.

I received word over the weekend that the parts are beginning to move again and got the distinct impression that M-X'd cameras would start to flow again pretty quickly. I can't wait.

Then again, I also can't wait for our Epic. I'm just a great big ball of can't wait.
 
Yup, the wheels started rolling again today on M-X upgrades. You are right, 99% of the parts still means you are not shipping. We are back to 100% :)

I can tell you that it's worth the wait. I shot a hospital campaign last week and it may be the best looking footage to date. Very pleased.

Sorry, Oliver, I do not track each camera individually. John and Nick are pretty slammed with emails since we are rolling again so I apologize up front for delayed responses.

I can tell you that ours (4729) was one that got caught up in the delay - and its already been shipped and is awaiting customs clearance here in Quebec!

My camera (4539)just came home from an mx upgrade
and I saw that de default setting is 800 ASA
is it better to shoot on 800 or 320 ?

If you compare the Raw View with the Redcolor view, you´ll notice that 320 looks like Raw View, and I´d use this setting, good thing is you can push underexposed footage 3 stops without big problems if you stay on 320.

Anybody got an update as to what camera no / shipping date batch we're at?
 
Brent, I've asked this a few times via email with no response, is it possible to have the updated CF reader installed at the time of the upgrade?
 
I've heard a lot of reports about how fast the upgrade process has been. I wish I could say the same. Shipped #2336 and was told the same day about the hold-up. Had a rental lined up that was well outside the 7-10 business days turnaround (next week, actually), but now that everything has been pushed back at least a few weeks it looks like I'm going to loose $2-3k worth of rentals. My upgrade rep told me the camera would ship out Thursday or Friday this week and I still haven't received tracking numbers from FedEx :-/
