  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

Brand new RED owner, and I am happy to wait in line for my upgrade. I'm a writer, switching hats - and my eyes are wide open. The fact that in a matter a months I will be shooting on the same camera as Fincher, Soderbergh and (maybe) Emmerich is astounding to me. It will be worth the years of struggle to get here.
 
I've asked this a few times and not seen an answer so apologise if it has been answered. Will RED Europe ( Pinewood ) be doing MX Upgrades in the near future? It would save a a massive headache for us owners in Europe.
 
Picking up #329 from Lake Forest tomorrow. To say I'm pumped would be an egregious understatement.

Nice to see things are moving along. I'm going to send mine in tomorrow. But I hope it doesn't take 32 days... I only built a 31-day window into my schedule.

#79 is still undergoing the upgrade process and is on its 32nd day at RED.
 
Please let me remind you (for the um-tenth time) that we are not going by serial numbers.

not in the near future.. the "operation" takes some unique ( $$ ) tools and we had to actually open up a separate unique facility just to facilitate the upgrade.

I do apologize for the inconvenience to you guys.. but as it has been said in this thread multiple times, the bit of pain is worth it :)
 
Stop asking the same question over and over again.

It's up to #600, not over and depends on the delivery date. It's like the 500th time this response has been written. - the question is - "when is the next batch going to be called in".

When you see a thread that has 57 pages its going to get asked a fair bit because people wont want to read the whole thing for fear of it being "wooo, I love my camera" or " this thing is awesome" I was asked when we would be getting ours, so I asked the same question here, thats all.

Perhaps an info/update sticky?

People are just eager about getting the upgrade.
 
#300 has already been in the bowels of Red for several weeks.

Should read:

RED #103 {Delivered Dec 28, 2007}, has been at RED since ...

I's been 15 days for us... and we are not expecting it until end of month even though we heard from M-X peeps that it would be "about 2 weeks"

I'd rather they do it right, test it well, and send it back when its ready. 2 weeks or 2 months. Its all good. Ill personally make the investment back in May and June rentals. If I have it for April too, awesome, then I can buy more RED stuff.
 
Hi Red Guys, one interesting question that came to me... When my upgrade time comes, is it possible to NOT SEND my camera but BUY a new one and get it upgraded? So i can save time and money on shipping, and also i don't have to stop working with my cameras. This could suit me well, be cause i am right now demanding an 3rd camera on my business.
Of course doing that would cross out the serial number of my" BEFORE OCTOBER" purchased camera. Make sense what i am saying?

Not sure what you're "reminding" me of; I was just stating what my camera number was and how long the camera has been at RED so others may know how long the upgrade process is taking. I originally received my RED ONE the day it was available (RED Day #2 - October? 2007), so the delivery date/serial number thing is irrelevant in my situation.

My serial number is #711, and I have not received the e-mail indicating that they are ready for my upgrade. I received mine on Feb/14/07 (yes, I know, San Valentine's gift). :reddevil:

I believe you received yours on Feb/14/2008 and not 2007.
The upgrade program is going slower than I thought. Also the time that the camera spend for the upgrading with Red.
Could it be because they are running behind with the the developing of the Epic? I am sure if Epic was ready the upgrade would fly like a Lear Jet, because I soon as they finish the upgrade they will start with stages 1-4.

Our camera has been over at RED since 10 february.... A friend of ours living close who received his camera's the same day as ours got his back already 2 weeks ago. Strange how people are still getting emails to send there REDs in while we have been waiting for almost 7 weeks now. It has cost us 1000's of euro's in rental and I'm not even getting reply's to my emails anymore when I ask about it. What a bummer. Anyway, nothing I can do I guess. Just hope it will be back soon. Greetings and still loving the RED ONE.
