  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE collectors...

So Jim,

What have you done with your #2-5? Lets hear some good stories!

#1 and #5 are in the vault.

#2, 3 and 4 are at my different homes. #3 has been upgraded to M-X and is my primary camera for shooting. I love it the most because I use it the most.

Zak... I happen to be an avid camera collector. OK... I am nuts.

Jim,

I'll trade you the first ever Ebony 4x10 for a Red 617 :)

Wish I wasn't in college in 2006 and had the $ to be first in line. Thanks for red day, It was an eye opener. I think you should have movie night and show some feature movies in 4k on that projector. Some of it was a little over my head for being a view camera person but was very interesting. Can't wait for the 617

I shot a head to head test at OffHollywood for one of my curious clients.

It was my EX3/Letus Ultimate/Nikon 85mm f/1.4 vs. "Hannibal" and a Red lens.

Alas ... my Ex3 lost badly. :blushing:

Since Elvis is #6 ... Bond #7 and Gibby has #8, what number is Hannibal?

#1 and #5 are in the vault.

Keep #5 safe. There is something special about the number 5.

Which camera shot those famous young bald eagles on your Island. #3? Those where pretty awesome shots as I recall.

Wonder how those might look regraded...

I'm not so sure about camera collecting in the digital age. Especially in these (relatively) early years when obsolescence (is that a word?) comes so quickly.

My '50s Leica and my '70s Hasselblad are just as useful today as they were they day they were sold. My 2001 Nikon D1x I consider 100% worthless (monetarily and as a tool).

I guess I disagree with you. Historic is historic... no matter what the circumstances. I own a Hassy that was on the moon (even though they say that none came back). And Oscar Barnacks' O-105. I would never sell these cameras for any price. Neither would I sell RED #1-5 for the same reason. They are historic... film or digital. It is all history.

These shots look much better now with the new color science. Shot with #4.

Ha! You know you've been on these forums too much when #6, #7 and #31 don't need to be named.

Of course #31 is in Dino's Avatar isn't it?

As to value, well value is only what someone will pay.

I could definitely see the first few, not so sure on the value of #99 (whoever owns that one) above and beyond being a fantastic camera. ;)

I think scarlet #1 will be worth much more than red number 80-something!

Of course, value is relative i suppose.

I think it is now time to shoot a movie with #3 (and a few EPICs)...

Which RED One has been in space, that "One" will be a gem!

I shot every Oakley ad for 20 years... and this commercial. Actually, I wrote it, directed it, was DP, set designer, and film loader. Not saying it is that good... 1992.

Co-wrote and produced this one with Brent Thomas and Mark Coppos... 1991.

Both very nice! So did you ever think about doing a full feature?

Btw. I think after the release of EPIC and Scarlet it would be great to have someone produce a documentary about RED preserving those memories when they are still fresh. That would be a great story to tell.
