  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED FOCUS

with all these easter eggs, makes me wonder what big news will be dropping next week :)

I believe Jarred misspoke and meant to say Red Focus is designed to calibrate the Flange Focal Distance on the camera, not the Backfocus which we all know is something you adjust on the lens...

I think this is a case of same concept by different terms. Page 10 of the Red One QSG calls the adjustment of the camera focus ring on the body "Back Focus Adjustment".

Same concept but different adjustment methods and technical terminology. Let's try not to re-define everything that already has existing distinct definitions.

Correct... Flange distance. Some say back focus and most people seem to understand the term back focus / back focal distance better, but flange is technically accurate..

Very cool.

Somebody should do a comparison to the NULL, Optitek, and this.
I wonder if each has it's own strength?

Hmmm, I thought Epic had an adjustment system that rendered something like this useless...I guess not. I'm looking forward to seeing how this is

oh, and I do think it's very badass that this looks like a thermal detonator :-)

I've just purchased a LumaCheck, which is AMAZINGLY accurate. It actually lets you see the pixels on the sensor to adjust flange depth. However, I like everything I use with my Red's to say Red

There is something else pretty special about the RED FOCUS, specifically the custom target within it, that we will announce soon..

Jarred-

Any previews of the scopes that will be displayed inside? Also, how do you adjust the flange depth on the Epic/Scarlet?

Thanks!

Epic and Scarlet you adjust via 2 screws with an allen key through the side of the body. One screw to adjust, one screw to lock/unlock.
