  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Europe - it's Official.

Great news

I would have preferred Prague or Munich or Amsterdam!

Good luck with it all

I have NEVER had any customs problems and I have NEVER heard of anyone who've had problems with customs when buying from the UK to another country within the EEC (European Economic Community). There's no customs between those countries.
Of course not, same old Europe. And the pound will be euro. It's just a matter of time.

BTW, there's no more European Economic Community. At least, since we are all part of the same EU -- European Union (not anymore as an economic community but as an economic and political union after all, as well).

The reason of the England choice is probably due to long-time England friendship with USA, and tax facilities for cinema business. I didn't mean to bash England, I just think it would have been far more practical for all the Europeans if the Red store would have been on the continent, in a country with the Euro currency.

Dear Jim Jannard, bombing Europe with your great Red products is like bombing Irak (remember the picture you posted once ?) or fighting in Afghanistan. It's always nice to look at the map before, and give a few phone calls... just kiddin'

UK or not, american and british know very well who rules in Europe after the americans. I think they will accept the most relevant currency nowadays, actually. That is, the most common european currency. Now the british empire is gone, the pound is only a national currency. Even the british know it.

Not to mention the nightmare of the English measure units... Try to explain to an Englishman that the rest of Europe is using kg and not pounds, meters and not inches or feet... This counts to sell/repair technical stuff.

Man, and I will have to find an Italian restaurant near the Red headquarters in London to avoid fish & chips...

Jean-Charles

This will not take you long to find!

Great news, as much as I love california, I do prefer not to send my camera there, too long flighttime means too long turnaround.

London is only 2 hrs flight time away, very convenient!

french guys.. do you know something to tell you?.. me prefers the french girls.. specially a pair of them.. lucky bastards

London Traffic Hell

London Traffic Hell

Good call to keep the service centre out of the heart of London - the traffic and overheads in the city centre are crazy. Or maybe I've just got used to living out of the rat-race in coastal Suffolk. Clever move to have have the centre in the UK's filmmaking heartland. Good stuff.

Fantastic news! :)

Don't let a few whiners get to you.

Dont worry.. we pretty much anticipate there will be a few jackasses out there pissing on the parade every-time we do something... we are used to it.

Thank you sooo much! this is great new... hopefully, when I get my Scarlet I can eradicate import tax etc completely!!!!!!.... :-)

He he... Jarred, accepting constructive criticism is for me far more interesting than idolizing... Congratulations anyway for your Red "almost-Europe" headquarter !

Jean-Charles

I was going to say something eloquent. However, it's a Saturday, so a simple "Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" will have to suffice. Many apologies and congratulations to RED.

Great to have service in Europe, but any place in Germany, France, Belgium would have been easyer for most of us.

Sorry Johan, but did you ever check low-cost-flights? There is no place cheaper to reach from all over EU than London. Wise decision. When will the first Red-Day be?

Fritz
