Red Epic DRAGON M8 6K Challenge Series... Opportunity

This sounds like a ton of fun! Don't forget us down in Texas. There are quite a few Red users down here, but I have yet to see a Dragon flying around this massive state. It would be great to meet you and see what M8 can do these days!

Love to help out with anything if you find yourself in Utah. Can't wait to see the amazing stuff you and others do with the M8 along your journey. :D

Looking forward to see you in Arizona.
(one thing in common, Milan-Bucharest-Venice-Rome-New York-Phoenix)
I will keep an eye on your posts, love the idea of BTS since equipment and setup are just as important as the final product. I know a few people on the cheap side that still use major equipment from the silent era....I am an avid entusiast of rigs and sttings, if I can not buy it, I'll make it.

Sounds good Danny, I know Arizona has most definitely some very cool outdoor locations I would like to shoot, probably even some that would require staying out overnight, we'll keep you posted when I am near location wise, and yes I am also like that, what I can't buy I make it and if I can't make it I'll have the manufacturer make it... ;)

Detroit, MI. So much character. Let me know if you come through.

Detroit, now here is an interesting city... We'll do Jeremy.

Ketch, you should absolutely come to Boston. I suggest either in May/June or September/October. Myself as well as fellow Redusers Ken Willinger, Nick Pasquariello, Martin Stevens, Adrian Correia, and many other local filmmakers around here could probably help you pull off something really cool. Lots of resources. Of course, schedules become the biggest challenge but nonetheless a trip to Boston will be a very memorable one for you!

It is my intention to do so Steve! Just need to see exactly when I'll make it over, and if I'll stop on my way to the other end of the Country or on the way back, but I'll make it for sure, especially now that you make it sound so absolutely interesting and a must stop place, and would definitely love to pull something together with such group of fellow Reduser in a City that his in its own also very Italian.

It will be fun for sure Drew, and no, don't worry, Texas will not be forgotten, definitely intend to NOT just travel across of it, but stop in and shoot some good stuff... Including the Texas Cheerleaders?... Lol.

Thanks Tyson! I sure also find my way back to Utah, haven't seen my buddy Steve Gibby and his lovely wife for a long time, so it might be a great opportunity to do so, we'll see.

Hi Ketch,

Waiting for a tour of yours, that i would want to name it "The Italian Tour" ;-) i appreciate, as always, your kindness and your generosity!

Best!

Jean

Maybe you cold come through the Bay Area, find something interesting to shoot in wine county. Would absolutely love to see your Dragon in action, and make a few new friends along the way :)

Hi Jean, thanks for your kind words as well!! I guess I should have done that when I first arrived back to Italy in 2011 instead of waiting 2 years of my life and all my savings on that fiasco of a "Megaproject" idea... My most expensive well learned LESSON to date... :(

Most definitely covering the Bay area, love that country side as well as water side, making friends is always a PRICELESS side effect of doing things like this which I love and one of the reasons I do it... ;)

Boise, Idaho / McCall, Idaho - Amazing places to shoot!

Ok, I am going to try and one up everyone... New York city, the cultural capital of the world. Although we don't have mountains and lakes, what we do have in abundance is life in the fast lane. Pretty much everyone's dream (and occasionally nightmare) is to shoot here. I think New York city daytime exteriors would be a great test for Dragon's amazing dynamic range. Oh and at the end of the day, little Italy is just around the corner ;-)

Hey Ketch, If you want to come through Salt Lake City, I could get you in front of a lot of film students that I am carefully crafting in the ways of RED. I've got the school to upgrade their Scarlet to Epic, but they are hesitant to upgrade to Dragon.

Hey Chris, yes Salt Lake City is a coll place to also shoot in, and wanting to go there several times, but never made it, this could be the right chance... ;)

Indeed.

He he, NY is an always will be NY... It will be almost impossible not to stop there again... ;)

Huum, ok, I am starting to think I need a Internship traveling/scheduling/BTS CameraOP/AC/Focus Puller/you get the drill... To go on this trip with me... I might actually really take one in, male or female, 21+ just in case we end up anywhere partying after a day's shoot... Don't want to be responsible for letting some one under 21 drink... ;)

That will be one lucky person. Lots of great experience and fun at the same time. If only I had an open schedule.

If you're going to be in NYC, hit me up. Would love to shoot a project with you.

Ketch:

Get off the beaten paths!!
I'll be shooting in Guatemala most of May, some aerials, but mostly a feature. Don't know of many places in the world that have so much to offer to an eye for photography.

Ketch, if you are coming to Chicago or Detroit, you need to make a slight detour to Grand Rapids (we are only 2 hours from each of them)…we are 30-60 minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches, lighthouses and incredible sand dunes you have ever seen…and our freshwater oceans are salt-free. We have lots of RED shooters here, but none of us have gotten our hands on Dragon yet and would kill to shoot with one! And I have a bunch of film students that love Skydive Dubai and would hang on your every word!

Yes I arrogantly like to think so knowing what it's in store... And I of course say this based on how I fill about it myself, been the fact that I surely would have wished for such an opportunity to be presented to me when I was younger and just starting out... Hope to find a nice Guy/Girl that thinks and fill the same about it... And definitely this some one needs to really be of an adventurous spirit, as while we'll sleep some nights in hotels, others in fellow Reduser's Sofa's, there will be nights that will be sleeping in the middle of no were, waiting for a Sunrise/Sunset Shot... Or waiting hours on the completion of a TimeLaps sequence... ;)

We'll do for sure Louis!

I ear you loud and clear Marco!

That type of adventures will be next, this USA Road trip is well overdue!

But also a very different approach will be used when doing that kind of adventurous "OFF" the beaten path trip... Much lighter traveling, and with at list 2 or 3 companions, I have shot in the wild before, Still photography, leaving tight up on a tree for several nights just waiting to get the shot, I know that filling of wilderness too, love it and respect it, and am certainly thirsty for it still... Yet much more caution needs to be taken given my current Health conditions.

Tom,

how can I not make it back to Chicago after such an incredibly great experience I had there thanks to friend and fellow Reduser Andrew Benz back in 2011 when we shot my first Fashion Film "Carly"!!

And I also love to make that stop, the Grand Rapids have always had it's own fascination, love water, Sand dunes, and have some ideas to get some cool shots, longer exposures super fast exposures, and some articulated Timelapse sequences... So yeah, at some point during this 2014 road trip, you'll see me there... ;)

Would be an honor to meet your film students and get a day dedicated to them and shoot a piece all together, s that they can get hands on DRAGON with me in action.

Then you'll need to take care of Post on the spot the day after so that they can witness a beginning to end work on Dragon done, and be proud of it while been finished under their now very eyes.

This is what I love doing the most, and this offer does not only goes to Tom, but to any one in similar situations, I have always loved teaching, and I a great at it, in fact so great that some think that those that can shoot do so and those that can't... Teach...

Well I hope I can do both... ;)

So if any one in my Path during this Series on my road trip has similar situations with a bunch of Film Students, I am game to shoot a Dragon piece together beginning to end in a two days work shop, were we shoot on locations and then edit grade deliver a DARGON piece together, and leaving them with something to remember and to continue drawing their inspiration from.

PS: Thanks for sharing my "Skydive Dubai" work with your students... Deeply Humbled by it... ;)

That would be great Ketch... maybe I'll be rolling on Chrysalis when or if you come through! No plans for attending NAB though.

Hi Ketch,

We are only three hours away on plane. Shooting with legendary DP Jeffrey Kimball in Manzanillo, we would love to have a Dragon for this show. Let me know if Mexico is in your plans I can arrange the insurance for your equipment.

Take care amigo!
