Red Dragon Info and Data Sheets

which ones are the newer?

Try the Firecrest. They should match much better. Most ND's have a hard time matching as they get stronger. Nothing todo with Dragon. Just the reality of ND's. But Firecrest I believe...are much better...and stay very well matched!

The WW NDs...but in general with normal NDs finding a matched set is really difficult...

Only in the last year HOYA and Formatt UK have formulated a manufacturing process to create NDs which are much more neutral.

Everything I'm listing is what's in the manual. Specs are a moving target too as features are added to the camera. The beta build for Epic Dragon for instance has slightly faster rates.

A small query

Is scarlet dragon 8:1 compression at 5K is better than Epic MX 5:1 @ 5K ?

In general, is the scarlet dragon sensor @5k is better than an epic Mx ? In terms of dynamic range, Low light performance, highlights in the shades etc., mainly the compession ratio worries me.8:1 vs 5:1- I'm going to shoot an indie film and got both epic mx and scarlet dragon at my disposal - help me choosing the right one.

Thanks,
Aaranyan

All the images hosted at ArtByPhil.com seem to be offline.

Was going to answer someone's question by linking to one of Phil's charts, but the image link was/is broken when I look at the source.

Might be a good idea to have them hosted somewhere else now that they've become so tightly integrated into the Reduser knowledge base.

I completely agree!!!

Maybe directly on a subdomain / subdirectory of reduser.net?

Working on it guys. Hosting company is screwy and having an issue. Sorry for the down time. Already got a dozen messages about it. Pisses me off.
